Again, when was the last time a regional tv station like WIN or NBN was at the negotiating table for the tv rights to any sport in this country. Try and twist and spin it all you like, it just sounds ridiculous though.

all syndicated outlets get a say u wombat ... they may not show up for giggleball negotiations
as they don't give a toss about that garbage

they'll drive the talks for RL though .... it is the biggest product they broadcast

So exactly how much did these regional tv stations pay for the NRL? Do you have a link to show how they were invovled in the negotiations?

the affiliates don't get their syndicated product for nothing

they will be the driving force behind ch 9 .... We want the NRL & want it bad
without it , we are in trouble
if another FTA station gets it .... we are in real strife

big big $$$ coming our way ........

If AFL was dominant in the regionals like RL is, you would mention them as much as RL fans do.

Channel 9 and 10 are broke with Channel 7 already committed to live AFL every week for the next 5 years. Who is interested in your NRL tv rights throwball fans????

9 are broke .... & will dissapear without the NRL , they will find the dosh somewhere to put in a big bid
Ch 10 know they need something to rate on weekends in Winter .. otherwise they won't turn their situation around , they want some NRL & Lachlan Murdoch has said as much
Ch 7 ... know the AFL will deliver them nothing in the Nthn States in terms of ratings & have gone on the record as saying they want Rugby League
plus they know they could kill off Ch 9 in one foul swoop with a big bid for the NRL , the competitive tension is going to be huge

all 3 FTA stations could get the games if Foxtel don't pull out the big $$$ for the most in demand sport on Aust TV

Yep, to get more ad revenue and have more people watching, you need a high rating program or two.

Getting the highest rating sport in the nation would go a long way to helping either channel get back on their feet.

If so, then they would want a balance of both games leaning towards the AFL slightly. That way they can show NRL in prime time in New South Wales and Queensland and AFL in the other states. But I do not see 7 looking in this direction and 9 are annoyed that they can not gain a slice of the AFL pie for another five years. They are therefore reliant on their other AFL programming such as The Footy Show. So it would be unwise to dismiss the AFL as a revenue raiser out of hand.

depite Eddies insane bleatings .......9 didn't want the AFL
nor did 10

7 thought they had an understanding with 10 to split the 4 FTA games between them , & we're pissed off delux when 10 pulled out
they're now stuck with ratings poision in NSW .. the ACT & QLD for 5 years ... & shrinking ratings in the rest of the country
lets face it .. the AFL is on the nose

If the AFL was on the nose they wouldn't have attracted the $1.2 billion deal they got. Eddie has considerable influence in the halls of 9.

If you mean the NRL, they are on the nose because their crowd numbers are well below that of the AFL as are the membership numbers. If they weren't, the last NRL TV deal would have attracted a lot more than it did.
