0 viewers for an NRL Semi Final in a capital city of Australia. No spin can change how pathetic that fact is.

National Rugby League, yeah right. :(/ :(/ :(/

Beau just has to be the "champion" of the use or is that misuse of the example of "one" to make a point.

So no one watched the Saturday night NRL game in Adelaide but somehow 10k watched the Friday night game. So they all disappeared literally overnight or perhaps there was an issue in the collation of the numbers or the time of the game etc

I do believe the AFL is more worried about the drop in Adelaide TV ratings and attendances than any concerns the NRL has. When heartland markets start tuning out you tend to get worried.

Actually I think the AFL is worried about the drop of everything outside Victoria. very healthy that" national" game.

Get back on topic, the thread wasn't done to talk tv ratings. AFL has already been smashed in that thread.
Especially you beaussie, continue to preaches national sport. The joke is on you and your AFL cronies. RL have 4 sides left, 1 NZ, 1 Qld, 1 NSW and one Vic. You again are the one who preach you are the national code, yet AFL only have 1 in 4 sides that are in your final 4. In fact you had only 2 sides outside Vic in the top 8 and most of the other states side finished at the bottom of the ladder. RL however had 2 sides from qld, 1 NZ, 1 Vic and 3 NSW looks a little more rounded to me.

Just be done with it AFL and move back to the VFL.

Dogs is right in the matter of getting back on subject.
It seems all the threads in fight club these days turn to tv ratings!

And likewise the NSWRL oops NRL was dominated by NSW teams last year in the top 8 with just one team from outside of NSW/ACT.

Yes you're right Kaskill. I think we should have all just put in our tv deal estimates in my thread and then wait and see what happens and argue over that. No point going on and on about it.

To keep on topic I find it pretty enlightening to see the comparison of national and international league teams in the NRL finals compared to the AFL. One would have to say that from this, this year it looks like the nrl was the more 'national' comp. Although this can change next season so not the strongest argument.

I fortunately got to travel all round this country this year with work. And I kept my eyes peeled all over the country for signs of nrl and AFL, and well mostly I'd have to say it's pretty equal in terms of grounds, advertising, social discussion etc etc. In terms of the NRL across the nation, there's lots of support in the NT. Massive support in QLD and NSW. Some support in Victoria, less in Tasmania and SA and some in WA. All up to me the stakes were pretty even with the AFL holding more support in 1 or 2 more states however nowhere near the support in QLD and NSW, which hold a massive proportion of the countries population.

Reading all the stuff about tv viewers in here, it also seems pretty even or perhaps a bit towards RL. The AFL does get the crowds though. But this year might mark a significant turning point with worries and woes all over the board for the AFL, while League seems to be on the rise and building across the nation. :) We will see, for now I say let's keep fighting but where have the insults gone?? Comon folks the yip yapping about figures, crowds, national sport this national sport that is boring without adding something like "you fukking goat turd" on the end or the beginning of your arguments. We now know what we all think of eachother so dont be shy, just say it.

You're a fool. Most outside of NSW and QLD couldn't even tell you the difference between Union and League. It's all Rugby or Thugby. More 'national' eh? What rubbish.

Blah, blah, blah. Take your Rugby League rose coloured glasses off and open your eyes to real picture in Australia. Gees you post a lot of rubbish round here. You are however a fine example of your typical so called Rugby League fan, having attended 2 AFL games in Sydney and 0 NRL games in Sydney. Way to go sunshine. The AFL appreciates your support.

Rose coloursed glasses? Beaussie is the pot calling the kettle black on this one for sure!

So you say most outside NSW and QLD couldnt tell the diff between league and union? From my experience I'd say this is absolute codswallop and I know you wouldnt cite a fair indication of your experience in other states if it were to in any way suggest people follow league anywhere. Your glasses are beyond rose coloured. More like they have a magnified image of demetrious anus on both lenses!

Now let me provide what I believe is a more accurate comparative assessment to yours. I'd put it out there and say most within the SCG on any swans night dont understand half the rules of the game and that the person controlling the rules of the game is an umpire, not a "ref" I've sat next to countless members who have illustrated just this, and they're members!

So I claim the majority are not real supporters of the game, they're supporters of a night out in red drinking chardonnay and cheering for a team, which they have no idea what the team is actually doing other than kicking a ball between some uprights. It disappoints me but this is fairly accurate from my experience. Beaussies seen it, but he wont admit it

And finally, attended two swans games and no league games yes. But apart from those swans games I've watched no more than four AFL games on the tele and about 25 league games on tele...make of that what you will but take those friggin glasses off first and expand your vision :>::

So now beaussie you are just calling people outside of NSW and Qld retarted. I seem to be able to hold a reasonable conversation with the guys in my Melb office about sport and that sure includes RL. I know you do it well, but stop playing stupid.

Hmm, those in glass houses comes to mind. #-o

Meanwhile nothing you say changes the fact that most people outside of NSW and QLD don't understand the difference between Union and League. Your mate is an exception. It generally boils down to a zero care factor for Rugby or Thugby as they call it in my travels.

Now we have confirmation you're making things up. Lots of support in the NT. Laughable along with support for Rugby League in VIC, TAS, SA and WA. Laughable I tell ya.
