MELBOURNE didn't win the rugby league grand final but rugby league won Melbourne. In an incredible ratings result for the Nine network, more people watched the NRL finale between Melbourne Storm and the Brisbane Broncos in Melbourne than in Sydney or Brisbane.
Nine’s telecast averaged 2.56 million across the five capital cities, with a peak of 2.98 million viewers.
Melbourne’s audience peaked at 8.29pm with 1.064 million and averaged 903,000, to become the city’s highest rating league telecast ever.
OzTam is more reliable, Willis. The Australian pulled that figure out of their arse.
Anyway - we're talking about NRL v AFL in Sydney only aren't we? The Melbourne viewing figures are irrelevant to the debate.
I'm sorry, I didn't realise it was only in regards to AFLv NRL in Sydney or whatever the dribble is that you are carrying on with. Believe it or not, but there is no way that

L in Sydney or in the greater aspects of NSW either. You can try your best with your little Auskick competition, (I'm not bagging it, I am actually keen to get my daughter playing it when she is old enough (even though she runs the ball like a league player)) but there is no way in the world that aussie rules is going to overtake league in NSW. Are you not happy that you have the majority of the states in Australia as prominent AFL following states?? Leave the east coast, we'll accept your token teams of Brisbane and the Swans but don't try to overrun us with AFL or it will turn around and bite you in the arse and you will have no support
