PERTH BEARS AND PNG TO ENTER NRL COMP
Detailed plan to be revealed in JUNE
* Perth Bears 19th licence
* NRL sets up PNG taskforce
* Government contracts to be written up in place for funding
* PNG 18th team
* Plans for 19-team league by 2030
ARL wants two additional NRL franchises by 2030.
It’s expected that Team 18 would be a Papua New Guinea side introduced in 2026 or 2027.
Team 19 would then be a side based in Perth, possibly a joint bid with the North Sydney Bears
I see class action written all over this.azif wrote: Sun May 12, 2024 5:35 pmwhen it does pass reps ( labor have the numbers ) , the senate will have their say & its far from getting across the line there ,

DFAT will just warn Australians to be vigilant when travelling there like they do with any citizen going to a dangerous overseas country for any reason. No one is forcing any fans to go there for games & if they do , their safety is their responsibility. I don't think many Australians will go there for games , they'll watch on TV at home. The Players association may have a say , the NRL is already planning building a gated community under lock & key with armed guards for the players , their families .. & staff to live in .. with more of your moneyBbear wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 7:33 pmI see class action written all over this.azif wrote: Sun May 12, 2024 5:35 pmwhen it does pass reps ( labor have the numbers ) , the senate will have their say & its far from getting across the line there ,

PNG is a lawless country, it's just not a safe enough place to be encouraging sports fans to visit.
The Australian government and the NRL have a duty of care to ensure fans visiting PNG will be safe.
Any guarantee of safety is virtually impossible for fans in the hazardous violent homicidal streets of Port Moresby.
PNG is dangerous and has one of the highest crime rates in the world.
If the NRL encouraged fans to visit then that amounts to extreme negligence and if a violent or deadly incident occurred then the door would be open for some expensive lawsuits .

I read some recently retired players were asked if they'd live there in that set up with their families & all of them said they wouldn't , not even for more money then playing in Australia.
its on a knifes edge atm
I hope it doesn't happen , its immoral.
well their fans are brain washed twatsBeaussie wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 8:01 amMore Australians getting news from the AFL than the Herald Sun and Daily Telegraph
NRL of course doesn’t even make the list lol
the issue with this is of course that most people will go to News.com.au (free access) rather than the local version of their paper, which likely requires a oaid subscription.The reak surprise is how high the Nyt isBeaussie wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 8:01 amMore Australians getting news from the AFL than the Herald Sun and Daily Telegraph

Beaussie wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 10:54 amStill find it surprising that so many Australians go to the AFL official site for their news.
Where is the so called number 1 code, based on the rubbish spewed from Vlandys and the tv ratings average metric alone? lol
