So we will never know the actual ratings overall? Well any discussion on ratings and who is “winning” is pointless than?
Yeah, sadly I guess that is true.

Even with free to air a lot of the AFL tv ratings are not available with split scheduling and broadcasts in different cities.

It’s a lot of guesswork for us fans, but the broadcasters would know the exact details with reach, minutes watched, averages and detailed demographics, hence why they’ve always paid the AFL more than the NRL.
thats why the networks and media partners write bigger contracts to the AFL! the only people that seem to the ratings as the gospel are the League fans

honest opinion mate.. hard to predict yes..

now that we know the NRL will have 19 teams in 2028 (2 new markets)

what do you think the NRL will achieve in 2028 to 2032 in tv value Annually and total ?
WA and PNG arent exactly going to bring in billions of extra dollars in the new broadcast deal
no one said they were :hmm: ???

but they will bring in extra games per round and subs ...

No one said Billions.. (wow your off the chart)

What the two extra teams do is fill time slots/hours as well - which is quite valuable - so extra dollars for sure.

I think you’ll get initial interest in Perth - but they’ll need to be successful. I think the other thing to be careful of for the nrl that it is not seen as a Sydney team - the identity is that of a Perth team - I think perth are very triggered by the east coast taking advantage or not giving them due credit- it’s a sore point- if they think the bears in Sydney are running the show and call the shots - the team will stink to high heaven to the people of Perth / get those two things right and team should go okay - at least initially. They will really have to embrace WA - be a genuine WA team. Learn from GWS I would hope.
