No - it was to try and tap and untapped potential market.
yes it was an untapped market, they had zero AFL

but that does not mean it will work.. (AFL totally under estimated Sydney)

They had made Lions and Swans into winning forces to gain and remain relevant they thought that doing the same with Giants would pay dividends.

(im expecting a fair bit of Crowd support for the Lions on saturday) coming from the north and south

Agree - the AFL really stuffed. Up re giants - and good we agree that the point of going their wax to tap an untapped market. Same as Storm going to Melbourne - back in the day rugby league was even a less of a thing than it is now.

I think the suns will actually benefit from their challenging years - they have a solid base of rusted in supporters who have stuck with them - so when they do do well they will have their band wagon jumpers - and a few will stay- but they’ll still have these rusted in supporter.

Ah
No
the Storm were born out of spite from the peace deal at end of the Super league war , News Ltds stuff you to the ARL
now a team may have been in the pipeline there at some point , maybe .. but to say It was the untapping of an untapped market is not correct , the Birth of the Storm in 1998 was political nothing more.

It was to tap a market - a business decision. Simple as that. Murdoch is no idiot and new he needed to expand the game.

it wasn't ,it was the games politics at the time ,
Murdoch said if we're letting go of Adelaide , Perth & The Hunter Mariners

we are getting a team in Melbourne
Was it needed .. nope
Was it stupid ... probably

Greedy AFL. I was looking to go with mates but adult tickets earlier in week were $101 plus booking fee. Ridiculous pricing.

Like I said, ridiculous pricing by the greedy AFL.
Adam Giant said:
It’s deemed Cat 1 though, so $101 for an adult ticket… ouch. That will scare some people away who are browsing and on the fence about going.

They need to make the tickets cheaper.
How much do AFL officials get paid, how much do they actually do.
