Now, being a purist.
Nothing can beat the real thing.
But if they are all indeed facts.
This year's format has more appeal to me. On paper anyway.
And I'm not the target audience.
Last year felt like another preseason comp.
But we get all the big guns this year, side by side.
A bit like your Soo. But national, not limited to just state.
And 4 teams rather than just 2.
And smashed out in a day rather than 6 laborious weeks.

But..... :hmm: ahhhhhh :? But in 2018 I believe prior to the first aflx match you said the concept was, and I quote, “a Masterstroke” seems to me you were more than happy with how it was originally planned and the expansion plans that came with it.

Now you claim to be happy with the mammoth reduction in the format? :>:: :^o :^o :^o

But dear Sporty, as per usual I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt my friend. If indeed you aren’t telling mammoth porkies, which I gotta be honest with you dude, it really looks like you are  but if indeed you’re not could you please enlighten us with a few descriptors that express your thoughts on the improvements the AFL has made on the MASTERSTROKE that was the original aflx Format and planning?

I mean, I’m really interested to find out what you might express is better than a ahem  masterstroke

So prior to the first game I said it was a masterstroke.......?
That doesn't make sense.

Very unprofessional.

You've got a very short memory .
The first game this year has not been played .

Yet you posted this weeks ago

I'll put my hand up.
I couldn't've been more wrong.
A showcase for up and coming stars....I said.
Well,........ now we're going to see all the big guns.
Lining up together instead of against each other.
What a concept!
And another draft. Woo hoo!
The amount of content the AFL pump out these days puts the competition to shame.
I maintain AFLX is targeting participation with social leagues playing the modified game.
And could prove to be a masterstroke by the AFL.

AFL at Allianz Stadium in Sydney and Hindmarsh Stadium in Adelaide. This looks interesting and I’ll be going along to check it out in Sydney. Footy on rectangular fields. Maybe we won’t be locked out of a redeveloped ANZ Stadium in Sydney after all.
AFLX to begin in February in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne
Anthony Colangelo

The AFL has confirmed that its inaugural AFLX competition will be held from February 15 to 17 next year, with three round-robin tournaments the main feature of the downsized Australian rules format played on rectangular pitches.

Six teams – Adelaide, Collingwood, Fremantle, Geelong, Port Adelaide and West Coast – will play the first round-robin tournament on Thursday, February 15 at Hindmarsh Stadium in Adelaide, a venue that usually hosts A-League soccer.

Carlton, Essendon, Hawthorn, Melbourne, North Melbourne and St Kilda will play the next night at Etihad Stadium, while the final round robin will happen on February 17 between Brisbane, Gold Coast, GWS, Richmond, Sydney and the Western Bulldogs at Allianz Stadium in Sydney.

In each of the three tournaments there will be two pools of three teams who will play each other once, with the top teams from each pool facing off in a grand final.

Matches will consist of two 10-minute halves with a two-minute half-time break.

There will be 10 players a side in AFLX (seven on the field, three on the bench), which will be played on a rectangular field (similar to a soccer pitch – 60-70 metres wide by 100-120metres long), with two 40metre arcs and a set of four goal posts at each end.

Goals will be worth six points, with 10 points awarded for goals kicked from outside the 40-metre arc. Rushed behinds will result in a free kick for the opposition from directly in front of goal.

There are no limits on rotations and marks taken from backwards kicks will not be paid. Kick-ins will be taken after behinds and goals.

A free kick will be awarded against a player who touches the ball last before it goes out of bounds.

AFL general manager of game development Andrew Dillon said the decision to hold three separate tournaments was made to introduce clubs and the public to the concept.

"AFLX has been created to provide us with the options to play a form of the game in places where oval grounds are limited and to showcase our game internationally at a point in the future," Dillon said.

I'm really interested to see this format in action. Just another chance to see the Bombers in action.
Although i feel it'll be more of a showcase for the lesser known talent on lists.
But as a whole I have a feeling this format is aimed at the participation market. Mid week comps across the nation. With only the ultra fit really being able to run for 2 hours this will bring all those that only have 30 minutes of run time in them to the game.
Could be a master stroke from the AFL and another nail in the coffin's for "challenging" leagues.
Try to keep it clean from now on ke.
Now, I don't expect an apology.
But with participation numbers up you have to admit it could very well be be a masterstroke from the AFL.
That, after all was the correct context I used the term for.

Anyway,..............

I am completely gob smacked ke.
When it comes to the next gen kids.
The AFLs AFLX, with its trendy names, schoolyard tactics, power plays and bristling with big guns.
Hasn't a chance up against the might of the NRlilLs drugs, rape and violence.
NO CHANCE!
And the beauty of it all ke, the real clincher, is that the NRlilL haven't forked out a single dollar for it.
God knows what the AFL have pumped into AFLX.

So hats off.
This masterstroke truely belongs to the NRlilL.
My insular AFL bubble is no more.
I've seen the light.
Nice ranting dude. ‘Ave a go at these facts

Aflx
1) From 3 states in its first season.... ....to 1 state in its second.

2) from 18 teams in its first season .... .... to 4 teams in its second season 8-[

3) from a 3 day tournament in its first season .... .... to a 1 night tournament in its second year

4) from 21 game tournament in its first season .... .... to 7 games in its second

5) In 2018 when referring to the afls new aflx concept SportCapital said.... “Masterstroke”

:(/ :(/
Its hard to argue with the Kings Assessment of AFLX
No one arguing or caring what King of the basement dwellers thinks

Aflx is a shits and giggle pre season experimental comp!
The AFL will only to continue to tweak it until it gets what it wants

Just looked it up, yep you said it prior to the first aflx game - way back in November 2017 you suggested the AFL had made “a masterstroke” in developing the Aflx concept. Not misquoting you at all, you said bro. This is what we are all laughing about dear sporty. So Please stop trying to deny it and answer my question - tell us why the new massively watered down aflx Comp is even better than the original aflx concept which you suggested was .... wait for it... a masterstroke

You still think this? They say laughter can help people live longer. I think aflx has been wonderful  just wonderful  I hope it keeps going every year and I dearly hope they take it to China and London, the pictures of the crowds and video and audio from the games would be so good.... so good!
