Ok, have finally got the finals tv ratings updated.

AFL - Week 1 Finals - Total - 4,906,000

NRL - Week 1 Finals - Total - 3,021,000

Massive victory in viewer numbers and crowds for the AFL over the weekend.

'Australia's Game', that much is obvious. :thumbleft:

Get your tin hat off. Foxtel is a combination of metro + regional so the numbers will be bigger overall with fox numbers (so thats about another 120-150K viewers on fox from regional areas). Was friday night on live into Sydney or Brisbane over the last few years? If not then there is another 100K or so viewers. The rest could be put down to normal variation, increased viewership and better advertising.
If Syndney and Brisbane can only get 85k now , then how could they have picked up 100k?
They were live on the digital channel and than replayed on 7(so double counting probably also happend there).

In your best case scenario there's a Quarter of a million - 300k unexplainned new viewers.

Ive just looked up last years friday night Geelong V Hawthorn
total was 1.165 million (101K from brisbane + Sydney) compared to this year Hawthorn V COllingwood being 1.066 million (about 100K less) on FTA but 417 K on Fox. So in total about 318K more.
Like I said there would be about 120K-150K regional viewers in the fox numbers so in total maybe about 170K more viewers. I was wrong about the Sydney and Brisbane viewers (the number was between 0-20K more viewers from these areas (85K + fox) The difference could be put down to Collingwood playing instead of Geelong, more advertising, people loving fox footy channel ( I was watching it on fox), weather in Melbourne (was raining some of the night and cold) and natural variation in TV viewership.
To say that there had to be double counting or the AFL manipulating data because of the big increase is just wrong in my opinion.

How are the viewer numbers from OzTAM dodgey. You're pathetic. Accept your place in this great country of ours as Number 2 for crying out loud. It wont change in our lifetimes either sunshine. :P

AFL would still be about 1 million in front with regionals about 5 million for NRL compared to 6 million for AFL in my opinion.

The AFL wins even without including FTA regionals! Imagine if it was a 2hr v 2hr telecast comparison. Our telecast is better and far more people are watching it. But you took the cash so suck it up for another 5 years.

Its over people. Over!

20k EXTRA subscriptions. Not 20k total subscriptions! There are still hundreds of thousands of subscriptions in AFL states and plenty in NSW and QLD that are interested. Seriously, how are you that simple???? #-o #-o #-o

Maybe 170K extra viewers with Collingwood playing instead of Geelong. What do you believe? That the AFL has payed off Oztam to increase their viewership to make their numbers look bigger for the upcomming AFL TV deal in 2017? I know whos the most gullible out of the two of us. Heres a clue..... its not me.

Foxtel includes metro and regional markets from areas where the FTA ratings didnt count last year Dave. These are the accurate figures. We were seriously under counted in previous years Dave, just as we always said. :\:
