Straight to the top of the list.
So basically just under 1.5m without regional FTA, and all averaged over 3hrs

About 1.838 million for the Friday night AFL total compared to about 1.5 million NRL. Like for Like (1st V 4th) on friday night with the NRL not showing two games at once, the AFL generally wins in my opinion.

It's like for like except the NRL telecast is 2 hrs. For the AFLs 3 hr telecast to get the same average it needs a higher peak audience.

Where are all of the NRL fans now?
With 2 more weeks of finals I wonder if you will have any games in the top 5 on fox at the end of the year =D>

Friday Nights first Semi is live for both codes and has been for at least the last 6 years.
Here are the numbers that appear on this site(metro only)
2008) AFL 1018K
2009) -------------
2010 AFL 1071
2011 AFL 1165
2012 AFL 1066 (+417 on Fox) would give a total of almost 1500.
Do you seriously believe the AFL had an extra 400 000 viewers this year???
Without the double counting, here are the real figures for total viewers. AFL=1418 NRL=1492 =D>
Where are all the fumble ball fans now

What are you on about are you suggesting all regional viewers watched the game on fox. Really dude your starting to sound silly and desperate. This weekend is the only time we get to compare apples with apples and you got pantsed. More viewers overall, metro and pay. Highest rating pay tv game for the year. As well as 120 thousand more attending the game. All this achieved with 3 of the big 4 not making the eight. AFL by far the biggest game in town. Bet ya that pay tv result really hurts lol

Whats this double counting you speak of?
As pookus said, regional viewers, and many people ion Sydney and Brissbane who would have watched the game last year on Ch7 now watch it on Foxtel. Also, we know that much of the AFLs regional audience was never counted. Now we're seeing the true figures.
How desperate can you get?

The AFL annihilated the NRL in metro FTA despite being simulcast on Foxtel. =D> Fridays AFL foxtel ratings were the highest of any AFL or NRL game this year by a fair margin. The total is a massive win for the AFL, massive!!!

AFL smashing nRL even without foxtel.
Those swans figures for Sydney are impressive especially given the foxtel ratings would add 40-50k.
Look at those Perth and Adelaide NRL figures!

Great to see the big increase in viewer numbers in Sydney when the game is shown on Channel 7 and not 7mate. Expect even bigger viewer numbers for the Swans preliminary final which I assume will also be on Channel 7.

increase viewers

all 400 thousand of them
Fox takes the channel 7- the 'unique signal'. Meaning they are counted for C7. Fox numbers are not additional.

Get your tin hat off. Foxtel is a combination of metro + regional so the numbers will be bigger overall with fox numbers (so thats about another 120-150K viewers on fox from regional areas). Was friday night on live into Sydney or Brisbane over the last few years? If not then there is another 100K or so viewers. The rest could be put down to normal variation, increased viewership and better advertising.

1.418 Million all up ( when the foxtel ratings are accurately accounted for ) for 2 of the biggest Clubs in the VFL
they have the 2 highest memberships
NRL 899K metro
593K regional
1.492 Million for 1 of our biggest clubs & one of our smaller clubs
put Parramatta or the Dragons on against the Bulldogs
& you could easily add another 150 to 200K to our figures
even with pay they can't to beat us
no wonder the TV execs think our game is the more valuable of the 2 =D> =D> =D>

142K .... you're happy with that ?
the Disney movie .. Bethoven II .. beat it
up against nothing else...no sport ... nada ... on the main channel
except cartoons & cooking shows .... they couldnt crack 3% of Sydney's population
Ch 7 execs would be embarrased .. lots of these
back to the secondary channel where this minor sport in Sydney belongs

exactly
its a known fact that only 20K extra subscribers joined foxtel this year from the VFL states
so how does this 20K
equate to ... 400K extra veiwers
its not even remotely believable
as you say pussycat its just playing with the numbers ....
NRL 1,492Mill Veiwers
VFL 1,418 Mill Veiwers
when will they win something

If Syndney and Brisbane can only get 85k now , then how could they have picked up 100k?
They were live on the digital channel and than replayed on 7(so double counting probably also happend there).
In your best case scenario there's a Quarter of a million - 300k unexplainned new viewers.
