Nah
Not even close ..
30,302 in 1999.. capacity is down to 26500 these days so that wont be beaten at Dairy Farmers
& theres been 13 other home crowds larger since 1995
It might be a Friday night record though ?

AFL is confirmed, yet again, as one of the world's best attended football competitions.

Easily highest attended if you put averages in to it comparing it to country populations.

I would argue that promotion and relegation in Football significantly impacts those figures.
In AFL you support the Swans or Richmond etc etc, that is pretty much your only option.
Where as in Football (I will use UK as an example) you support your local team, especially if they are League 1, very few would support say Swindon Town and Chelsea. because at some point in time Chelsea and Swindon town are likely to be playing in the same League.

My mate Tim is an Essendon supporter. When they play in Sydney as they did in Round 1 this year, he goes to the games. But he also goes to Swans or GWS games even if Essendon aren't playing.
When he played it was for Sydney University in the NEAFL, so he supports them, too.
The point of this is, Australian Football is such an exciting game to attend, crowds at big games go through the roof, and the excitement isn't lessened if your own team isn't playing.
Yep, Beaussie is right. Makes ya proud to be an Aussie, Australia's Game!

Adelaide alone have annual crowds of nearly 1 mil a year, as does Perth. NSW, the NRL's biggest state only get 2m attendance per year. So tell me again how its a victorian game? :_<>
