Oh please your previous TV rights deal was worth $20 with half a packed of smokes thrown in - you don't have your own channel but are on Fox sports 3 - AFL has a dedicated channel which is still playing games on replay! So before you start saying we were there first - you were just showing games on delay (still do as a matter of fact). AFL has in addition to 7, Fox AFL channel AND when there is more than two games at once Fox sports 1 or 2!

And if you remember the networks went after the AFL as well to the tube of 1.25 Bil! RL was banking on the AFL deal so they could ask for a decent deal for once!

But Aussie rules has a strong presence there ... 5 leagues in Sydney alone can't be wrong. Rl has a very minimal presence outside qld and nsw that they need to build on. I think the people in Perth are doing this well mind you with them getting the grass roots going ... Leaves Victoria for dead. I think nrl will do well in Perth as they will jump on anything... But it must be supported ... They must win. But let's not get silly and state rl is competing with AFL ... AFL are a long way ahead . I think soccer however is the real challenger to AFL and was the reason for the giants ... Not to take on nrl . I think the suns were about tackling the rl and union here ... As there was a massive void, and the AFL dodged a bullet in north Melbourne not relocating as it wouldn't have been taken on the same as has the suns .. The people have grown with it and it has become part of the town .

2. The clubs get NOTHING from TV ratings. Like Swans said, they get an equal share of the media rights deal and that's all. TV ratings have NOTHING to do with that, never have and never will.
