the ffa cup has been fantastic so far, virtually every game played at the smaller crowds by the lesser clubs have been sell outs, some peaking at 5k with the highest to date being the 8k at edensor

the a-league clubs are drawing similar numbers to the crowds seen at the smaller grounds, considering games are all midweek and memberships don't account for cup tickets it has been solid for a first seasons effort. knockout cup culture will grow and become more popular as time goes on. as far as tv numbers go, it's been an outstanding success. games rating from 40-60k, even games featuring 2 lower league sides....up against the NRC, the ffa cup has absolutely smashed the rugby who are drawing less than half the numbers the ffa cup is getting on tv

ultimately the success is shown through the 3k average attendance for non a-league clubs. there are only 2 sports in this country that can draw that many fans to support amateur based sides - aussie rules and soccer, it shows the immense presence and potential of grass roots football in this country.

with NT teams being added next year and more teams from the other states its going to be even better

FFA cup is great. Nothing wrong with the attendances because it's a charming little competition played in quaint little sporting grounds and this is the first season it's been introduced. It further connects the A league with the historical roots of our wonderful game.
