Given those AFL games are shown concurrently on FTA and ptv, which splits their audiences, they are absolutely smashing the nRL!

Stop with the lame arse excuses. The average football fan watchs his team his team and maybe one or two others. Some maybe 3 or 4. But after that theres only a few tragics like us that watch more. So because you have some games simultaneous it allows many people, who wouldn't normally watch a match , to flick over during the add breaks and increase that matches average. If you are a tragic football viewer you will whatch the replay after the other match finishes

How is it an excuse when 2 games are shown at once or the same game is shown on FTA and payTV. Fact is if 400k watch 2 concurrent games of AFL on foxtel the audience is 400k not 200k twice!

And if 700k watch a game on FTA and another 300k on foxtel the tv audience is 1m. Splitting them into games is disingenuous and you know it, especially when you quote figures for combine NRL games on FN!

No it has nothing to do with people watching every match. Its to do with the entire audience of AFL fans not being able to watch two concurrent games at the same time. The AFL smash the highest rating games list. The NRL aren't even in the top 15 or so. You've included rep games to save face. How desperate. Plus your payTV list is bs. Youre fine with adding ratings from two games for your live fn game but won't do the same for the AFL Saturday night matches which are also shown at the same time.
You know your losing by miles. Arranging the numbers to suite your sport and not another is desperate indeed.

Sun TV #NRL 483k (Syd 326k Mel 8k Bri 141k Ade 2k Per 6k) Nine/GEM
Sun TV #AFL 527k (Syd 72k Mel 234k Bri 33k Ade 64k Per 124k) Seven/7mate
Another easy win for the AFL, especially when you consider FTA was against about 400k watching foxtel.
Look at the sydney ratings!

72k on 7mate plus foxtel! Compare that to 8k for NRL in Melbourne!

Pay TV struggling as normal..
Sun Sub TV #AFL #AFLSwansSaints 229k #AFLTigersNorth 186k #AFLFreo
Giants 106 oh deary me... =D>
Sat Sub TV #AFL #AFLPiesHawks 214k #AFLCrowsEagles
113k #AFLSunsLions 187k #AFLDogsBlues 160k #AFLDeesPower
75 oh My
The fact that your games are shown over a 3 hour period is the reason some of these games must be shown concurrently....... so that is a weakness in your business model and cant be used as an excuse for these appalling ratings.
NRL streaks ahead again..
Sat & Sun Sub TV #NRL #NRLSOUSTI 311k #NRLWARNEW 248k #NRLPARMEL 52k/177k #NRLCROCAN 167k

The interesting thing about Saturday was that Pies/Hawks was FTA into Vic with two melbourne clubs (although delayed FTA), while Crows/Eagles at the exact same time live on Fox was live FTA into SA and WA. Its not so much a bad model for AFL as a bad model for Fox ratings not that they matter its all about subcriptions.
For me the bad ratings would be the NRL ones which are shown independent of each other and not on FTA like all of the AFL games.

I dont believe that there has been a NRL non rep game all year that has cracked over 500 K regional viewers (game not broadcast) I would suggest that the AFL games are far enough in front of the NRL games that regionals will make little difference to the yearly accumulated Australian audience. Lets wait until the end of the season and see whos right.

I guess when they come around so rarely even a small victory seems gigantic.
