If this does not go ahead - they will have to cancel the olympics lol - there just isn't the time to redo the Gabba or build elsewhere.
Yeah. They'll probably push it through Fred. Could get ugly though along the way.

I remember the Albert Park protesters - were there for years and years - maybe still are??? Made no difference.

New stadium will be amazing for footy in QLD. Biggest stadium in QLD.
New era for Victoria Park begins for 2032 and beyond

The Premier and Deputy Premier joined Olympians and Paralympians, AFL and cricket champions and the next generation of Queensland’s sports stars and super fans to mark the major milestone.
Brisbane Lions Chief Executive Officer Sam Graham said the team was working closely with GIICA and other stakeholders to create a venue that all Queenslanders will be proud of.
“We’re really pleased with the progress being made to date. As we have seen in other cities across the county, new stadiums are generational assets, they shape cities, economies and communities and this will be a venue that is welcoming and accessible to everyone, for decades to come,” Mr Graham said.
“From a Lions point of view, there’s more kids kicking a Sherrin around Queensland than ever before, we’re about to set a new club membership record and we’re looking forward to welcoming a new generation of sports fans to Victoria Park when we call it home from 2033.”

Footy in Qld??? That'd be Rugby League beatup. They've got a beauty of a stadium already pal. Or do you mean fumbling?? No doubt they'll be sniffing around the stadium like a dog on heat looking for every freebie they can get their stinky hands on. Some things never change.

Great to see the AFL kids out there today with the Premier and their shovels. Work has now officially begun on Queensland’s newest and biggest footy stadium.

It's disgusting that the AFL sent innocent kids to do their grifting. These kids should not be used as political pawns. The AFL are cowards hiding behind 10 year olds whilst leeching off the Olympics and cricket to achieve their aims.
They should at the very least send fumblehouse goons to spruik their grift. This is bordering on child mistreatment.

That may or may not be the case. Regardless it is not the point. Using kids for political purposes is disgusting but typical of the AFL.

I am confused as to how the kids were used for political purposes - they were there to celebrate the beginning of the construction of a new AFL stadium that will also be used for Cricket. Was there anything political in it - apart from having governernment there as they are paying for it?

I dunno Fred, maybe the fact the bloke running the press conference is the Qld Premier could maybe, possibly slightly make it political. Like, because he is the politician who runs the joint pal. And he's up against vested interests, indigenous folk and political opponents who don't want it built.
Yeah, I dunno, seems political to me. So in a desperate show of soft diplomacy the AFL sends in innocent kids rather than The Big Dill so that no hard questions can be asked of them. Classis political posturing.
Yeah, its political.
