Decent fair post there fred me boy!
Jolly well done.
We can only wait and see if the afl has made a decent decision. But given the current trajectory and the poor decisions I’ve outlined earlier, I don’t think this website will see a gws side that gets off the bottom two sides in the afl in terms of home crowds and members. I think if beaussie could pass this website down through perhaps 15 generations of his kin, then, perhaps, there’ll be an outside chance that gws will begin holding its own as an afl club.
Many more $$$ to come!
Perhaps they could have a name change. Gws leeches has a nice relevant ring to it dont ya think?
maybe not.
but their numbers are tercking nicely to over take several NRLOL clubs! matching them in some areas already!

At least there were people at the game, 65k, and nearly 1mil watching on TV
The NRL had 12k at their brand new stadium to watch a 28-0 drubbing, and barely 700k watching on TV
\
Has your lot one any PTV game a PTV game this Year?
have we one any? What does that mean?
Oh, have we 'won' any? Yes, we've had higher ratings on PTV for some games, but clearly the NRL are outrating the AFL on fox on average. It's interesting the AFL can lose the PTV ratings easily yet rate over 250k more nation-wide. AFL fans have left foxtel in droves it seems, including me. Kayo is just far better value.
This raises another factor for cumulative ratings comparisons. If the NRL states have far higher subscription rates yet rate lower nationally when all ratings are included a comparison of 200 games on fox is basically meaningless and only really reflects differences in subscription rates.
Surely your not trying to make out this isn't happening in the NRL? Our Streaming numbers are higher. Stop making excuses for your pathetic game.Far higher interest levels? But, But But.
Subscription rates are higher for a reason. More interest!
Every year we have 4 of the top 5 FTA in the Country . So how is it you figure your doing so much better?

is this a new conspiricy pissycat?
got any proof?
it may have been that way in the past due to AFL arriving on fox a lot later than the NRLOL did but that was mainly due to Mr murdoch and his ownership of league

The AFL are creaming the nrl on FTA yet the nrl are leading foxtel. Thats a clear sign subscriptions are far higher in nrl states. Therefore all 200 games on fox cannot reasonably be compared when subscription rates makes the difference

If this is the case, why did FOX pay more for the AFL over the NRL >> when NRL clearly gets more viewers per games>>
and as you state & has more Subscriptions>>
or does it mean FOX just paid way overs for the AFL ....?

They paid what the AFL wanted in the hope the subscriptions would rise once they had access to every game live. However, with perth, adelaide, sydney and Brisbane all seeing their clubs on fta for free the carrot for afl fans to take out foxtel isnt huge. Now that kayo provides the same product for 1/3rd the cost its even less.
But the evidence is there. The afl has dominated this years total ratings, scoring the highest rating game every round despite often rating far lower on fox for the same game. The subscription rates must therefore be vastly different. Last night the total afl ratings only had 20% from fox while the nrl had around 30%. Add that trend to every ptv game for the year and the nrl have about 120 games where they have 50% greater availability to their audience. Another reason why you cant simply add all the ratings up for an equitable comparison.
Yes the NRL appears to be king of foxtel on current figures. But as far as the king of TV the AFL own that with far stronger fta ratings

FOX already had all 9 games in the previous Tv Deal..
FOX already knew FTA strength in Other states stated.
Kayo and Streaming affects both sports.
Yes is winning the Year on FTA.
Rugby league Fans for years, have been having a go at Channel 9 Broadcast..
which shows the decline in FTA and strengthen position on FOX.
the basic fact is FOX paid overs>> and good on AFL for getting them to do so..
Business deals are Business.. AFL were better.

Fox may well have paid overs in an attempt to lure afl subs, just like a free agent is lured by clubs offering more money than their value to secure a big signing. But from what ive heard the AFLs fta ratings are up 17% on last year which more than accounts for the drop in fox. Come next time fox may offer less but ch7 probably more given all networks will want a piece of the afls dominant figures

You need to stop listening to those voices in your head.Your FTA ratings maybe up on this time last year but not 17% Gill. The only reason there up is because you had more FTA matches, You haven't had to deal with a royal wedding or a Commonwealth Games. In reality your ratings are as bad as ever , probably worse.
C7 paid big for the cricket . They wont have money to waste on a dieing sport.

Yes and Fox is losing out big time to streaming. WatchAFL is so much cheaper and convenient.

Yes, Fox has made it very clear they are getting rid of all non essential sports. But Not the sports that make them money. So bye bye AFL
And how exactly is AFL cheaper? Fox are in the position they are in because they overspent on AFL.

Yet they paid more for it!
After years of propping up league and making it relevant, they sold off the polished turd called league

‘‘It’s early days but ratings are up 16 per cent,’’ said Seven’s managing director in Melbourne Lewis Martin, who felt that the even competition was a key factor in the larger audience. ‘‘As of now, every game is of consequence.
How can the ratings be up yet 'as bad as ever, probably worse' you moron?
How's it working for us? Well we havent lost a game v game comparison vs the NRL so far this year, so Id say pretty well
https://tvblackbox.com.au/page/2019/5/2 ... cket-looms
For the 2019 Season, the NRL on Nine is averaging 602,000 viewers across Metro and Regional markets
On Free to Air Television, the league .... averaging 310,000 in Melbourne, 101,000 in Perth, 96,000 in Adelaide, 30,000 in Sydney and 28,000 in Brisbane. Regional coverage averages out to 100,000 per match.
This equals 665,000.
There we have it. Accounting for games on any day, and at any time of day, the AFL average 665,000 per 'game' for FTA, while the NRL only averages 602,000.
This isnt Friday only pussy cat, this is Thrusdays, Saturdays, and Sundays
It also accounts for regional ratings so your but but excuses are blown apart
