Ok well lets ALL be realistic. Games in Sydney have been shown live for the AFL since the first season of this current tv deal began. Live broadcasts of the NRL in Adelaide have been eroded as their deal has gone on, with many FTA games now not shown until after midnight. AFL coverage of local games into local markets is considered sacrosanct by the AFL, and its believed to cost them at the tv negotiating table. Whether the NRL contract specifically makes Nine show games into Adelaide is questionable, given the network regularly flouts this arrangement now.
To be fair on this, Adelaide figures have rarely reached double figures (twice in the 2013 and 2014 seasons) generally getting less than 6k. while AFL games in Brisbane and Sydney have ranged from 25-70k for home and away games depending on who is playing.
Fair call, finally not a cracker jibba fest. I also would assume the AFL number a heavily dependant on a bigmelb based team playing ie Collingwood as I know there are may weeks were there is minimal viewers in Brisbane and Sydney as well. Given the Sydney s 4 times the size of Adelaide and Brisbane is 2 times and the timeslots they are being played at. I would think it is fair to say that the figure are pretty fair for NRL really when you also consider there is no NRL side in SA.

Thank you for that timely intervention and getting this back on topic, The Wookie. I'll just add that it is impossible to compare apples with apples per what Dogs said, and you demonstrated that admirably.

Yes I agree and I am truly dismayed that someone at NRL headquarters hasn't put their foot down and done something about it. It's as though they are letting the AFL run the show, and I can't think of a good reason why they would do that.

the ratings are far from accurate, that is why several thing need to be taken in to account which is more popular, participation, crowds, tv ratings need to be taken in to account, this is why i place a high importance on sponsorship dollars that the leagues and clubs bring in. as companies will research something before pumping big money in to it.
the bumsniffers like to play grasping for straws, when it comes to tv ratings, they get raped in every other department.

You are comparing games that is televised in the middle of night in sa where there is 1.5 million potential viewers to games played in prime veiwing timeslots, but on a secondary channel. Just so typical of you lot isnt it.
look at the reason why is is televised at that time of nite, because it doesnt rate
it has been televised on the main channel 9 before but it doesn't rate
that picture i posted before was ratings from a game from the Western Australia football league beamed in to Sydney at 2.30 am, even that rates better than RL in SA on a commericial network

Hey leagueiscrap, show me where any NRL side rates 13k in their own market live on FTA.
Go on bullshitartist, I bet you can't find any place that has an NRL side rating 13k on FTA TV like a certain Sydney side in the AFL did.
Full of shit as usual.

Now if we disregard that, does that mean we can disregard smaller figures - often below 4,000 in SA for the NRL?
we can disregard the tv ratings, as that the bet wetting virgin brigade live by them, yet all other key areas that would proove NRL is that popular they fail dismally in!
they are very inaccurate
but what ever truth there is in them.
aparently 86k watched the SOO
0 people watched 3 games over last weekend

I maintain
7000 people in Sydney would barely watch a VFL game in the middle of the day that didn't involve the swines
for anyone to suggest that many watched a derpball state game
at
2.30 in the morning
is in need of medical attention

I was under the impression Channel 9/GEM was contractually obligated to broadcast NRL live in SA/Adelaide??? I guess not. Way to go NRL.
