Last years round 1 was the lowest crowd total in NRL history for their 16 club competition. The excuses were rampant, record floods, no Brisbane game, torrential rain etc.

This year theyll squeeze past that low total yet still likely end up with the second lowest rnd 1 total in their dissapointing history. I wonder what the excuses will be this year? Brisbane had a home game, the weather was fine and sunny at each game....

Must have been too nice, too many other things to do

hmmmmmm
would have on their ear against the Dragons in rnd 3 ( first home game ) ... if they'd won yesterday & again next week.

but they won't if they put on another performance like yesterday against the Titans next week as they'll get lapped again like they were by Penrith.
this is the raiders though
a nightmare of a side to follow .... up & down like a fucking yo yo

testiment to the steadiness of our crowds ova the entire season
that in 2012 we had the lowest first round aggregate in the last 9 years ..... but still only missed the highest average ever ... by just 45 fans a game =D> =D> =D>
our crowds only fell by about 2K a game throughout the season

the VFL had an average of nearly 41K last year in rnd one
& then ............. plummeted like lead weight by 10K a game .... , to its lowest average ..... in 15 years

Testament to the fact your crowds are going nowhere despite your memberships increasing. Face it, the massive void between NRL and AFL crowds will NEVER be breached

the VFL's average in 1983 was 24376
the NRL's less then a 3rd of that at 6926

in 2012 the VFL's average is just 7K more a game then 30 years before
the NRLs .... nearly 10K more a game then 1983

the debate ends ................. here

The AFL crowd TOTAL has been steadily climbing. It dipped once last year due to 2 new teams and live TV. Itll climb again now.

The NRL has stalled for nearly 10 years now despite no expansion or change in TV schedule...

If the nRL were to expand and place a team in both Perth and Adelaide, its average crowd would decline too.

well it will be ova 25,000

smashing 2012's opening round
Well it was a beeeauuuutiful day down at Newcastle, official crowd 21,935. Now, correct me if my maths fails me Dave, but is 21,935 'well ova 25,000'?

No, Dave, it isn't is it? In fact, it's 'well unda'.

158,677 total attendance, average of 19,835. Couldn't even crack a 20,000 average round with the Broncos playing at home

Now here's the big question; can the AFL literally double the nRL's opening round attendance? We did it last year easily, but this year there's no Hawthorn v Collingwood match, and no standalone GWS inauguration. My vote is that yes, the AFL will again literally double the round 1 attendance of the nRL.

hmmmmm
19835 .... x 9..... x 2

357,030

about 10K down on last year , while the NRL was up 9k on theirs
another example of the decline of the VFL
but more importantly

will the VFL avoid dropping 10K a game from round one to its eventutal average for the season ..like it did in 2012
meaning it will be under 30K ... like I predicted it would be

i fear even with the rampant fudging of crowds by the midgets & thuns
they will still fall below 30K

oh dear 8-[
