I read the story, and that WAS biffo at that Queensland game. That wasn't the king hit stuff that you say the NRL is stamping out, KE!

Xman is right. Allowing fisticuffs is not one in any sport. But Xman, I'll bet Striker is saying AFL when he does mean the lot. The problem at local level is that not all the clubs are using the investigation system in order to weed these morons out. They will eventually.
its an ongoing effort to stamp violent behaviour out at all levels. often the lower leagues make up for their lack of skill with an increase in aggression. However, the professional leagues need to lead by example. The AFL are, despite criticism. The nrl are not. In fact as KE shows, many of their fans applaud it. But i suppose their sport has little else to draw fans.

Yes the changing nature of violence in our game has been for the worse. A bit of biff? Never hurt anyone anywhere near as much as the injuries inflicted in gameplay during RL and Marngrook... Well apart from the feelings of lilly ass weaklings like Xman and co.

But but whaaaaaaat about the children.

People will be violent in society whether the AFL punishes or applauds violence you dimwit. You really are the narrowest of minds arent you Xman. I suggest you get out and live a little, travel, learn about the world a bit eh?

A massive proportion of League and Marngrook fans love the biff...its awesome.

Oh Xman, I'm sure you'd appreciate this running commentary from these two pissweak pommies

So why have there been repeated articles in Australian papers over the last week calling for a stop to youth violence?

It kills people. Fights kill people.a punch to the head can kill someone. Violence is never the answer to a problem. When people's sporting heroes behave that way people take notice. They think it's cool. It's not. It's cowardly and primitive behaviour that destroys lives.

FAMILIES and surgeons confronting the consequences of king-hit attacks want a national symposium.

Their plea has emerged as part of the latest phase of the News Limited Real Heroes Walk Away campaign, which spotlights youth violence.

A two-part feature concluding today tells the stories of five families that have lost sons, brothers or fathers to king hits.

so Tallis wasnt even sent off! Did he even get penalised? He would have got a year off in the AFL. He would have been jailed in the community. And people like you think this is ok. I seriously hope you dont have kids. How would you feel if your son suffered an assault like that for looking sideways at some flogs girl freind?

Whaddaya mean no decent person could agree with me? I only made two points in the post you quoted. You think the AFL is stopping violence on the streets now? You don't think a massive number of Marngrook and RL fans love the biff?

Put ya specs on ya git

stamping violence out of the game is showing society this behaviour isnt acceptable. Doing nothing is condoning it. Youre going to a whole new level, applauding it. What a redneck bogan!

I think Tallis got sin binned. A harsh penalty and may have cost his side the game but I can deal with it. Personally a simple penalty would have done the job also.

My son? Well I wouldnt be happy if he copped a flogging on the street. But on the sporting field in a violent game such as RL? I wouldnt be happy but unlike you dimwits I'm aware that if you play a highly violent sport you're likely to get hurt at some point.

I definitely wouldnt be doing these ones like Xman

Xman I suggest if you have children, dont put em on the footy field :)

Hey Xman you're from Victoria right? Now I want you to enjoy this vid and sing along to the words. A beautiful vid from a time when the AFL had its rules right vis a vis fisticuffs on the field and also a time when Australia was a less violent place  Oh and TLPG, if you're reading, tune in to this vid mate. Some fantastic umpiring scenes :D

MORE than a quarter of king hit assaults across the nation in the last seven years have been linked to the major football codes, according to a News Limited analysis.

The worrying connection has emerged as officials, coaches and parents urge everyone involved in junior sport to make sure our kids are getting the right messages about violence as soon as they first lace up their boots.

The nationwide study of 175 media reports - undertaken because official police figures do not detail if an attack was an alleged king hit - found 27 per cent cases took place during football matches, at football venues or involved people linked to a football club.

A sucker punch - why a 'king hit' glorifies an assault

It showed young men aged 18-23 were behind nearly half the cowardly attacks since 2005 - with those under-18 responsible for nearly one in six. Of particular concern for junior sports officials: all of these football-related alleged king hits happened on the field of play and some involved kids as young as 14.

The dire consequences of such violence were also highlighted by the figures - nearly one in ten resulted in death.
You seriously need to read this article again. ](*,)
