There is no source for the regional TV ratings for that year. Therefore it's simply a matter of extrapolation. Last years AFL GF rated 2.64m metro audience and 930k regionals. So the total was 3.57m

That's 26% regional or the regional ratings are 35% of the metro.

Well in 2005 the AFL GF rated 3.386m metro only. 35% of this is 1.185m. Add the two together and you have 4.57m.

Easy
Sorry Xman in the real world we need proof to make such claims, so with that in mind your comment about 4.6M for 2005 GF are unfounded and there for should be put straight into the BS files.
That is proof. I didn't think it would please you. at worst the ratings would be 4.4m, way higher than your biggest ever SOO game, and not even in primetime.

You can get stuffed with the bs file crap. None of you guys participate in it anyway. You can't just pick and chose.
Oh now its 4.4m   You start to see how stupid your prediction really is......

Mate keep living in the past wandering what your ratings might have been in 2005, we in the NRL will worry about the now(4.047M confirmed, 11.9M for the series = Winning)and right at this moment it is a wonderful time to be a Rugby league supporter. :D Records tumbling everywhere in our game. Record crowd at the Anzac NRL game, Record ratings for Origin 3, Record ratings of 11.9M for the 3 game series, Record Memberships, soon to be record crowd average for the year, record TV deal coming, New NRL commission who got rid of the last dinosaur in our game, record salary cap of 6M in coming years, record junior participation, record Toyota cup ratings.......WINNING.

I never said they were 4.4m, I said minimum because that assumes a regional figure similar to the last 4 years. The 2005 ratings were far higher so the regionals would be as well. The main reason was it involved teams from 2 cities which is likely this year given the eagles swans and crows are in the top 5.

Your tv ratings for SOO were record yes, but manly due to the fact that Qld have been dominating. Once this changes they'll drop.

Your crowds are down again this year and were far higher 5 years ago. Oh dear!

Sat FTA TV #AFL Night 613k (7) 71k (7mate) Arvo 275k (7) 89k (7mate)

Another million plus coming for the AFL last night. Look at those 7 mate figures: 71k evening, 89k for the arvo, plus foxtel. Makes those 16k results for live fn NRL look particularly horrible doesn't it.

Even though I didn't watch the game I took an interest in the result because Qld is a far smaller state and therefore the underdog by population. Australia loves an underdog. The longer Qld hold a winning streak over NSW the funnier it gets! If it was NSW dominating Qld, or even results, the interest from non NSW/Qld states would be far lower.

Do you really think a team that has had Billy Slater, John Thurston, Cooper Cronk, Darren Lockyer and Cam Smith playing together for the last 7 years are the underdogs.

I'm not talking about the players, I'm talking about the population base to draw players from. It's like NZ beating Australia in the cricket. Every now and then is ok but if they won 7 or 8 series in a row the interest would increase every year until Australia finally broke through. If it was Australia dominating NZ the interest would be less because most would think "so they should!"

Pt it this way, in previous years I would have no idea who won SOO. Now I know, despite not even watching or taking interest, because it's a massive monkey on NsW back and intensifies pressure on them each year.

I understand what your saying, but you gotta relise these players are once in a lifetime players. Cameron Smith will probably go down as the nest hooker of all time. When you have them all playing together well you 7 series in a row.

Maybe so but it still is the small state smashing the large state. Underdog beating powerhouse. Little brother beating big brother. I mean Qld only have 3 teams and about half NSWs population! What's wrong with NSW?

Victoria used to get beaten in ARs SOO but were never dominated like this.

Well from 2008 to 2010 we never had full time coach like QLD. Plus it didn't helpthat after every game we lost we changed the team and could never get 1,6,7,9 combination that worked. With Ricky Stuart coaching fulltime now we went extremley close this year and I think we should win next year

Once again leaguefan, they have all the theories in the world why rugby league SOO ratings are through the roof. But not once again they cant provide any facts or substance to back there theories..... pathetic really.
Oh and when they have nothing they revert back to the Crowd numbers like clockwork bahahahhah...

Sun TV #NRL 414k (Nine) + 7k (GEM) #Intrust Cup 24k (Bri) Sub TV: #NRLSOUNEW 215k

Sun TV #AFL FTA 425k (Seven) + 58k (7mate) Sub TV: #aflhawksgiants 99k #aflsunscats 130k #aflfreodogs 122k

Another easy AFL win.

Look at those Gem ratings! 7k from 7.5m people!   Again the AFL would be up near 100k with foxtel.

So is it fair to say the AFL is 10 times more popular in NSW and QLD than NRL in Vci SA WA? :-k

I cannot believe that.
I have never been sold on ratings accuracy only as a general measure.

.
Nice try Cos.
