AFL is the second to third winter sport in attendance and TV ratings in NSW and QLD. It is far and away the number 1 sport in the rest of the country.eelofwest wrote:Lol more delusions of epic proportions, NSW QLD = 53% of AUS population so AFL is a backwater sport to 53% of aussies? And not to mention its a abomination of a sport to the rest of the world lol.Xman wrote:It's an emoticon, not my face. Could it be that victorian rules and the AFL competition is seen as unimportant in sydney, the most populous and largest city in this nation?
Ah, the GWS crowd was 3 times larger than the corresponding NRL showdown the night before. The Melbourne storm, NRL ladder leaders, drew 12k on Sunday against no sporting opposition. This week they are playing at the same time as Coll v Haw across the road. This game will draw 80-90k while the storm draws another crowd in the low teens.
A result of 82k on 7mate, plus foxtel is pretty good for GWS, especially against an NRL game on foxtel.
Somehow I think the AFL is FAR more relevant in Sydney than the NRL is relevant in any state or territory outside NSW ACT or QLD combined.
The NRL is the number 1 winter code in NSW/ACT and QLD but is 4th in Victoria, and non existent in all other Australian states and the NT.
That's the truth. Live with it.
