Your laughing looks nervous dear Xman. I think RL is generally seen as not that important in several australian states. Could it be that victorian rules and the AFL competition is seen as unimportant in sydney, the most populous and largest city in this nation?
It's an emoticon, not my face. If it looks nervous it ain't me.

Ah, the GWS crowd was 3 times larger than the corresponding NRL showdown the night before. The Melbourne storm, NRL ladder leaders, drew 12k on Sunday against no sporting opposition. This week they are playing at the same time as Coll v Haw across the road. This game will draw 80-90k while the storm draws another crowd in the low teens.

A result of 82k on 7mate, plus foxtel is pretty good for GWS, especially against an NRL game on foxtel.

Somehow I think the AFL is FAR more relevant in Sydney than the NRL is relevant in any state or territory outside NSW ACT or QLD combined.
Lol more delusions of epic proportions, NSW QLD = 53% of AUS population so AFL is a backwater sport to 53% of aussies? And not to mention its a abomination of a sport to the rest of the world lol.
AFL is the second to third winter sport in attendance and TV ratings in NSW and QLD. It is far and away the number 1 sport in the rest of the country.

The NRL is the number 1 winter code in NSW/ACT and QLD but is 4th in Victoria, and non existent in all other Australian states and the NT.

That's the truth. Live with it.

With AFL being played every week in NSW and Qld, AFL will move into a clear second position in those states.
Nice try Cos.

I would say the AFL is already in clear second position.

I base this on the undisputable facts such as, FTA and Pay TV broadcasts live and tv ratings, bigger crowds, membership bases, sponsorship dollars and media coverage.

Wallabies can pull up to 80K in Sydney & sell Suncorp out easily
as can the Socceroos

we have Vicky Kicky struggling to half fill ANZ
& crowds as low as 13K in Brisbane

Vicky Kicky is barely watched on TV in NSW & QLD

VFL is 4th at best outside of its heartland
deal with it
RL SOO II 4.194 Million veiwers
RL SOO I 4.068 Million

Hahaha.

I love that "as low as". Your own code in its own heartland draws sub 10k crowds regularly in its own heartland!

more double what Vicky Kicky can muster
same for Suncorp ... always sold out for the All Blacks
the Lions can barely half fill the smaller Gabba

So rep games are compared to national comps now? I would say the lions get a far far bigger total attendance for the year than rep games can muster together.

The point is idiot, that rep games for many sports draw good crowds and tv ratings. The Olympics is a classic example where people will watch sports like diving or badminton in huge numbers for a single event. But when it comes to a full season of national competition that wouldn't attend if you paid them. AFL is well attended and watched compared to regular season RU in NSW and QLD.

Good point, once every couple of years and dependent on the opposition.

How about we compare the NSW Waratahs crowds or Sydney FC with the AFL in Sydney. Look no further than last weekend. Go on I dare ya. TV ratings and crowds comparison. Get back to us yeah?

As I said, it's undisputable that the AFL is already bigger than Soccer and Union in Sydney.
