You do ? Well on the gold coast and in brisbane when i say football i am always asked which one. However that is my experience.

Cricket isn't anywhere near as popular as AFL or NRL. Just look at the tv deal and crowds for sheffield shield. Plus it's still predominantly an anglo-celtic supported/played game.

For a **** like you Australia isn't NSW and SE Qld it is a far bigger place

I think rl is more dominant outside the south east qld area. Country areas in qld are a major supporter base from my experience and AFL has not made the impact that you gey on say gold coast or brisbane. Logan is vety much league area too. I do wonder if there is a divide on socio economic lines in qld re sporting code followed and this may be where AFL has stepped in a little taking over a slice of the union market? A hence the rivalaries and sometimes hatred you get in qld re codes and whether this comes from having competing codes in the rugby v league for so long? Rl being the working mans game and union being the toffs so to speak.

The term FOOTY is used for what is the most popular code in an area(state etc)
In southern states it's AFLOl
In the northern states ..it's RL .

But as usual you couldn't comprehend what was written in plain English & just waffled on with your usual crap .

If a Victorian was at the MELB STORM LEAGUES CLUB & talked about FOOTY .What code would he be talking about ?????

Agree but now that soccer is being called "football" and given afls significant presence across the country i wonder whether this is why when i say ."footy" on the gold coast or brisbane i get asked "which footy".
