but it is a dying breed, a number of local clubs have closed due to lack of players.
in the last 6 or so years of living in central qld AFL has grown out of sight, you can play AFL in every or most of the major coastal cities all the way up to cairns.
when the GCS where playing for their place in the 8, & when Gary Ablett hurt his arm, it was often the lead story in the sports on the Radio and television, the updates of Abletts recovery made bigger news than wayne Bennett return to the broncos :lol: :lol:

....and they all lived happily ever after.
Hey Pussy 36800 Swans fans and only 24k RL fans from Manly, Penrith and Canterbury bothered going to the NRL last night - where did all those world domination RL fans go??????? Hahaha

Yep what a shit round the NRL has really gone backwards this year!!!!! Two games in one round under 8k - and they still tell everyone they will be number one in five years!

Dave Smith's strategic plan is to grow last year's average crowd of 15,900 fans (which is exactly the same average for matches over the past decade), the target for this year is 16,500; better hurry up, it's not looking good...

You would think to increase the average by a lousy 600 would be possible, apparently not!

Don't know how the NRL will get to the stated 20k in 4 years, times running out...less fans in attendance now than 2005.

Increase so far this year for the NRL = 0.00000000001 % or if i,m generous an increase on the average of 1 person ( or cardboard cutout)

2013 = 15940
2014 = 15941

Who could that 1 person be?

That strategic plan is not looking so good!
