in the last 6 or so years of living in central qld AFL has grown out of sight, you can play AFL in every or most of the major coastal cities all the way up to cairns.
when the GCS where playing for their place in the 8, & when Gary Ablett hurt his arm, it was often the lead story in the sports on the Radio and television, the updates of Abletts recovery made bigger news than wayne Bennett return to the broncos
