From what I understand sponsors are covering most, if not all the required funds for AFLX in their pursuit of younger fans and potential new customers. Along with this, broadcasters are not shying away from telecasting the event live nationally either (including the Draft). Why, with that in mind does anyone care so much and try and point and laugh from a far. The same was said of the Big Bash in Cricket back in the day and still continues today. How’s that saying go... haters are going to hate right? No changing that of course, but take the BBL as a similar example. Ridiculed by many, yet attracting bigger crowds, tv ratings and tv dollars than other traditional forms of the game (Sheffield Shield anyone?).
