Baseball has a minor presence in all states, not just South Australia. And it only takes nine to make a team compared to a higher number for rugby league.

ok according to its 2013 annual report, Baseball SA has 172 teams (85 senior, 87 youth) with a 14 team division one competition (it doesnt give a player number). According to the 2013 Badminton SA Annual Report, there are just 5 clubs competing across several age groups and divisions with no player numbers given.

According to the NRL 2013 annual report, SARL consists of 32 teams, 13 clubs and 1036 players.
You are certainly very good at providing proof, The Wookie. I am very surprised at those baseball numbers.

Having played baseball in Victoria and in the Gold Coast and knowing a little of the Brisbane league I can assure you there are more baseball players in Victoria then rl players ... Again, there are both winter and summer comps and they go right through from t ball to seniors to masters. There is also representing teams for regions and for states and also for country.

zero ratings still = zero interest
According to this Adelaide resident, it is dam near impossible for there to be ratings in SA. If what he is saying is correct. Then your comment isn't worth a piece of piss.
As stated in the article: "the 2013 State of Origin was shown live on Channel Nine, but as I said, so was every Friday and Sunday game in 2013, right through to the finals and the grand final. But 2012 or 2014? Nothing. Not a single game before midnight, any day of the week. It’s insulting."

I only drink Bourbon so beer is out of my league
thats kinda strange, for some one that is very well researched & correct nearly all of the time,
makes a expert sounding comments about beer in SA, then retacts by claiming they only drink bourbon
thats ok, wookie. you can be a closet coopers drinker

Excellent pick up, Dogs. It shows that except 2013, Nine in Adelaide refused to do the right thing and develop interest further in the game. It takes longer than one year to get a sport going outside of it's heartland. Look how long it took the Swans to grab in Sydney. Three years I believe it was.

You could say the same for other minor sports too ... What about basketball etc

If I remember, basketball has ebbed and flowed over the years. It had a spike in popularity around the same time as Michael Jordan was showing his skills in the NBA.

Yes, but it along with many many sports are bigger in South Australia yet there is no argument they should be aired in prime time.

The thing is, if a sport wants to promote itself it needs to find the right timeslot. With the digital channels now available, prime time is an option.

Well that's up to the sport to negotiate with the channel as they afl did. Why should nine Adelaide show rl in prime time ... If they do that why not other minor sports such as basketball, hockey, baseball etc etc which have much I believe would have higher par riparian and following !
