So Xman you think the game (of marngrook) is not suited to the physiques of islanders? A simple enough reason but I wouldnt be pushing it. Islanders aren't all the one shape you know and there's plenty of positions in marngrook in which a big frame is an advantage. We also must remember that Pacific Islanders living in Australia are integrating into a new country and picking up different customs as they integrate. Diets change when people move country, as do recreational interests such as sport. The AFL would be best to heed my words here rather than Xman's narrow ones and aim for a more ethnically diverse code, like RL.

Are you then saying that the AFL is against recruiting pacific islander players or are you saying that pacific islanders are not suited to the AFL...it can only really be one of the two because we all agree there are diddly squat pacific islanders playing at the AFL level. I would say that Aussie Rules is suited to a lot of different body types. I would say that RL is suited to less body types, however a common body type for RL (muscled and stocky) is also common in Polynesians. Just my opinion.

And a perfectly reasonable opinion. I quoted an article in this thread saying the NRL will soon see 50% of players from polynesian background. Yet this is an Australian competition.

Its an ethnically diverse competition Xman. And dont you go putting polynesians in the one box now, like you already have. They're a very diverse bunch they are too, representing numerous nations.

I'd disagree that RL is suited to less body types than marngrook. RL has a place for the ectomorphs, the sam backos, the blocka roaches. Marngrook doesnt really have a place for the 'big boned fatty' types which is a shame because it is great to see fat athletes i think.

It is being fixed, Eel! Which is more than what the NRL is doing! It's a lot better in the AFL than it was - even Goodes will admit that. Of course it's still there. It's still there in every code and in every sport no matter what. The question here is not whether or not it's still there. The question here is who is doing more about it. If it's NRL v AFL it's an easy win for the AFL.

He never said it was a problem. He said its being addressed but there is some work still to go.
