So 40% of a single Sydney NRL team have 8000 non ticketted members yet Melbourne AFL teams, which have far more members over all, have far less non ticketted members?

Tasmania don't have a team. Many of them have the chance to be non ticketted members. Regional Victoria don't have teams like regional NSW do. Wouldn't regional Vic be inclined to take up non ticketted memberships just as much?

NSW have Over 2.5mill regional population. But they have a regional NRL team!

Vic and TAS have about 1.7mill regional population with no regional team.

You're telling me that an NRL team in Sydney has 40% regional membership when memberships aren't even popular yet in the NrL? All this while Melbourne teams have 10% non ticketted memberships from a regional catchment thats not far off the same size (If you subtract Newcastle)?

That makes it worse! Why would South Sydney have such a high level of non ticketted members? Don't give me that regional bs either. Looks to me like the numbers do include league members. The proportion is all wrong.

Why?

Illawarra split game between Sydney and the Gong, Newcastle Knights and the Canberra Raiders.

Still a lot of room outside those 3 areas.

Because the 3 regional teams represent regional audience, leaving less regional audience to take out non ticketed memberships for the rabbitohs. Either the memberships are so cheap they mean nothing or they're league memberships not club members. Either way the list really does look fudged in comparison to the AFLs list.

Put it this way, if the AFLs strong list of members is made up of 90% ticketted members, thats a darn sight better than the NRLs modest list that is even worse given the high proportion of non ticketted members!

And if you look at the map of NSW, people are hours away from any of those regional teams.

That's got nothing to do with what are clearly very fudged numbers! The proportion they're claiming is much much less in reality given such a high proportion aren't even full members.

Fudged is probably a bit strong. Misleading is probably more accurate.

Yeah but 40% of them mean little to nothing because they're non even ticketted. 90% of the AFLs are.
