Its not a theory, its fact. A program is watched 'more' if it rates with similar numbers but goes for longer.
If the NRLs 3 games or 6 hrs of TV on Saturday rate 200k each on stv they total 600k. The AFLs 2 games shown at the same time over 6 hours could also rate 200k but end up with a cumulative total of only 400k. Yet the same size audience watched TV over the same 6 hours. Its a misleading result. The way to adjust for this disparity is multiply the AFL audience by 1.5 which then accurately reflects the same audience size watched both 6 hours of TV.
Thats the way to accurately demonstrate 'most watched'
Great pal. Show us any ratings agency or TV network that applies your mad professor x1.5 theory to any ratings anywhere at any time. Good luck with that. When you come up nada take yourself off to the jungle pal & look for the plot you've lost!!!!

Your Saturday night game nearly always rates lower than our Thursday night And your Sunday game more often than not does to.
Yet funnily enough our Saturday and sunday games are shown against another game on fox, plus on days where 15hrs then 9hrs of games are shown on the same day. Its not because the games are worse in quality than friday. Quite often the sunday arvo games are way better
Both FTA games aren't shown against each other so stop saying they are. The games are shown separately into different states which picks up extra ratings. So as far as ratings go its an advantage!!!!! and that added to your daytime FTA more than compensates for any loss in PTV ratings.

It doesnt always pick up extra ratings though, especially if some markets dont get the best match on FTA.

Ratings companies like oztam provide ratings results, that's it. Then it's up to the interested parties to interpret the results as they see fit.
If a network broadcasts program A over 1 hour and get ratings of 500k, then program B over 2 hours averaging 500k, the second has double the result. If they show progam A twice in a row they're not going to conclude they got 1m for program A and only 500k for program B. Both programs averaged 500k over 2 hours.
If channel 7 get 1m average ratings for the aus open tennis over 3 hours, and channel 9 get 500k ratings for 3 one hour programs in succession over the same time, you honestly think channel 9 will add the ratings together for each of their programs and conclude they were ahead 1.5m to 1m?
This is so blatantly obvious why would they even need to state it?

Same as when the Broncos or titans are shown on Friday night. For the NRL to target their 2 heartland markets they only need a single game. The AFL need at least 2 games to do the same

The catastrophic downward trend continues for the Fumbling League on Fox in comparison to the same round 2017: 2017 1588k v 2018 1424k or minus 164k viewers......OUCH!!!!! FTA was probably worse!!!!
In comparison the NRL continues it's stellar year with Fox up 252k for the round & FTA 67k for an impressive 319k overall all: 2017 - 3530k v 2018 3849k. Nice numbers!!!!!

LOL your excuses have always been lame . But this may well be the most lame arse excuse you've used yet. Boundary lines on a map??????? You do realise Sydney to NZ is over 2000km , Brisbane to Townsville is over 1000k , Sydney to Canberra almost 300k. So how is a match between Sydney teams targeting Townsville or Canberra???????????????
And now I see you've found out how poorly the AFL rates so your questioning the validity of the ratings system
Origin 3 - was the most watched program in 2017 ie highest rating.

You have 2 major heartland cities and then some minor markets. You can, and do, target them on FTA with prime time games, just like we do for our major heartland markets. Yet you can do it with a single game, we need multiple games to get the same advantage

You keep putting forward these weird and wacky theories, and because they are to far off centre to be disproved you take it as proof that these theory's ,no matter how whacky are facts. If you put forward a theory that there is life on Mars. Because none of us has a rocket ship and cannot prove your theory wrong. than that's undeniable proof, in your mind, that there's life on Mars. Has anybody ever told you that's not how it works.
As for viewers , I would imagine 99% of them would be there at the start of the program. the hard part would be keeping them. Especially in the case of AFL with most games being over shortly after half time
