We are comparing viewers Fred, as this clearly indicates popularity, And viewing numbers clearly show Rugby League is the most watched sport in Australia. Just as they did last year and the year before that.

NZ are part of our broadcast deal with Ch 9 , they area members of the NRL - You analogies are baseless and quiet senseless. Even without NZ ratings we still dominate in this area.
Christ your an idiot pissycat! it doesnt matter what the actal figures say & the simple fact the AFL gets more money for less product! you keep rolling out your same dribble :-k

What Do you mean for less Product

AFL AND NRL (including SOO ) have equal amount of games.

In fact the AFL game goes 1 hour longer..

don't you mean the AFL has more hours of product compared to the NRL

In fact the AFL has 210 + hours of product per year..

anyone know the accurate figure ?
AFL has its h&a season, the nrlol has h&a season, soo, internationals, tests, 4 nations & inbred cup & any rubbish in have missed out on. AFL has full control of its fixture, nrlol sold it's!

Simple case AFL gets more for less
The NRL does not run those competitions, the RL International federation does.

All that money for TV rights goes to the RL International federation.

AFL 198 games + 27 Nab cup games 9 finals series games = 234 games at 3 hours a game = 702 hours of Content

NRL 192 games + 3 SOO + 3 Tests(Tonga, Samoa, PNG, Fiji, NZ, Aus) + 1 City/Country and 9 finals series games = 208 games at 2 hours a game = 416 hours of Content

Clearly the AFL has more content...

AFL 702 Hours of content at 414million annually = $589,000 per hour
NRL 416 Hours of content at 390m annually = $937,000 per hour

Even if i am out a little, it is quite obvious The NRL per hour is getting paid way more than the AFL per hour of content. =D> =D>

Another ignoring the fact that only 1 AFL game per round is played in isolation, so those 702 hours of football cannot be watched by every fan, probably only around half of it

X Man do you ever stop making but but excuses for your long winded pathetic game. Your game drags on and on ,that's just the way it is. There are advantages and disadvantages with a 2 hour game . :blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah:

70% of people can see just 3 games in nrl . You get a free hit for the final quarter of a Friday night, how many people would switch over ? You virtualy get a free hit for your arvo & night games on Saturday. But all we ever hear about is poor poor AFL and excuses for why there so pathetic.

the long winded pathetic game that is beating your FN game week after week? If our average ratings are beating yours our peak would be much higher given our telecast is longer.

lol as i said AFL HA& season, nab cup a series of practice games

the NRLOL deal is the H&A season, inbred cup, tests, internationals SOO, 9s & any other garbage that i havnt listed
it doesn't matter which bumsniffing corporation gets the money its what c9 and fox pay for! :thumbleft:

things that you keep leaving out is things like SOO
http://www.news.com.au/sport/nrl/no-mat ... 6930436026
so its apparently worth 20% of the broadcast deal

all that compared to the AFL H&A season, yet the AFL still gets more :\:
Australian sporting sponsorship
AFL excess of $50m
A league $30 million plus
ARU $27 million
NRLOL $25 million

The highest rating game this year is Fridays Test match. So enjoy that silver!

Peak audience is the audience when its at its highest point. why do you think this? Or have we resorted to just pretending now? Our GF had a much higher peak than yours. Your audience usually peaks around presentation time and they don't have presentations in club games.

Hey, if rl get higher ratings in australia then sure it is one indicator that it is more popular. No problem there. I do not think you could add in nz ratings to support an argument that rl is more popular in australia though. But within australia if rl has higher average ratings you have areasonable point.
if we do not include NZ ratings that is fine..
it just makes the NRL look even better.

basically it has 15 teams and still beating AFL

Good Breakdown.. well done.

when you look at it this way, Makes you think how the NRL got even close to the AFL

an extra 290 odd hours extra a year in TV COVERAGE
with 2 extra teams

and there only getting $24million more a year.  :-k

Its a very simplistic breakdown. The extra hours are completely misleading when only one game is shown in isolation.

Realistically the AFL have 3 hours on Friday, 9 hours on Saturday (1.30pm to 10.30pm), and 6 hours on Sunday (1.30pm to 7.30pm). This is a total of 18 hours per weekend. The NRL have 16 hours per weekend, and a longer season. Plus they have SOO, internationals and NZ rights. Plus Sydney is by far the most profitable advertising market, and Brisbane is 3rd.

So lets see if puddycat's but but excuse for lower foxtel ratings on Friday night is true. Like ch9, ch7 will now broadcast the AFL in HD from this weekend. So lets see if the FTA ratings increase and the foxtel ratings decrease.

Ok Caitlan X........Man. What is the total hours of rabble ball broadcast each weekend? You said the total is 18........... we all know that is wrong.......so you are lying again. Why do you do this ya dill??? Everyone knows you're lying. You are discredited once again......you're not reading off a Monty Pythons script are ya??????? What a flip!!!!!!

I said: 'Realistically' the AFL have 3 hours on Friday, 9 hours on Saturday (1.30pm to 10.30pm), and 6 hours on Sunday (1.30pm to 7.30pm). This is a total of 18 hours per weekend.

This is because on Saturday 5 games are crammed into 9 hours, and 3 games are crammed into 6 hours on Sunday

As an example the AFLs national audience on Sunday arvo might be 800k but they must choose between two games shown concurrently. So 400k may watch one game and 400k the other, halving the advertising revenue for each media provider. The NRL's audience of 800k watches the NRls 2 games in full because they are shown in isolation.
