Western Sydney Wanderers fans pepper sprayed during match

Ugly scenes at Parramatta Stadium marred the Western Sydney Wanderers' final game of the season, with fans of the club being pepper sprayed by NSW Police.

The incident occurred in the active supporters area, the Red and Black Bloc, after a flare was lit during the first half of the 2-1 loss to Perth Glory.

A NSW Police Media spokesman said after a flare was lit in the Wanderers' fan section and the alleged culprit was identified on CCTV, "police went in to get him and unfortunately as they did the crowd sort of turned on them and some capsicum spray had to be used."

But an RBB source, who did not wish to be identified, gave a different version of events.

"When he [the man who lit the flare] turned his back, the cops pulled out the pepper spray and went at him," he said.

"Other people surrounded him saying 'stop' and then other cops started spraying too.

"Some kids were getting pulled out of the bays to go and get water put in their eyes."

He said the RBB then left the stadium in protest at half time, where clashes then continued.

"At half time it was decided that we would leave the stadium - once we were outside, the RBB were in one group chanting - the police were lined up and then suddenly almost simultaneously 5 or 6 of them pulled out cans of pepper spray again and began spraying the front row of people. "

The Police Media spokesman said police had not heard of any incidents outside the stadium.

"We understand that nobody was injured as a result, aside from some secondary contamination."

A spokeswoman for Westmead Hospital said that there we no admissions in relation to capsicum spray and that those cases are usually treated on the scene.

She said there were also no admissions for any other injuries to people who attended the game.

I think porky's likely in westmead hospital suffering a severe case of pepperspray  =D> =D> =D>

Yes, I really enjoyed viewing the police pepper spraying the fukk out of those tools. In fact I think there's a real opportunity now to construct legislation to officially pardon police brutality towards sooker hooligans. We have to nip it in the bud right now. It's time to up the ante and I think the best way would be for rubber bullets, tasers and batons to be dished out at the slightest smell of fukksticks at sooker events. Sure it'd wipe the crowds out by 90% but its important we don't let the scourge of sooker hooliganism have any place in this fine country.

Though they could have gone a bit harder these fine Macedonian policemen seem to have a nice structured approach first rounding up the pack of rat like hoolys and then systematically cracking a few skulls. It's good to see and really gets the zero tolerance msg across to the knobjockey hoolys quite nicely.

How's the eyes goin this morn porky?

Hooly are endangering citizens lives with random flares, unwarranted attacks and trashing public and private property. I think in addition to batons tasers and rubber bullets the good ol water cannon should be present outside allajor venue exits to blast those fukkers to timbucktoo.

Hooliganism, it's growing in Aussie sooker and needs to be stamped out folks :salute:

WTF is wrong with these people? Flares and railway detonators to demonstrate support for their team? :?>

The FFA says it's unacceptable, however appear unable to stop this kind of behaviour. Seems to happen week in week out in the A-League.
Flare-toting Western Sydney Wanderers' fans admonished by FFA and club
Date February 7, 2016 - 4:25PM

Football Federation Australia has slammed the behaviour of Western Sydney Wanderers' fans who ignited flares at Saturday night's clash with Melbourne Victory, while the Wanderers say such fans have "no place" at their club.

The thrilling 1-1 draw at Etihad Stadium was marred by an early batch of pyrotechnics from the Wanderers' away bay that led to the game being temporarily halted until the smoke could disperse from the mostly enclosed arena.

The sight of flares at A-League games has been one of the most divisive topics **** fans in recent years, although authorities continue to hold a hardline stance of zero tolerance.

FFA chief executive David Gallop made his feelings clear on Sunday, saying fans who smuggled flares into matches were a blight on the code.

"The behaviour of some fans, and in particular a section of the Western Sydney Wanderers fans at last night's match, was unacceptable and will not be tolerated," Gallop said.

How original, never heard that one before, how do you come up with such insightful analysis?

The truth tends to get repeated.
Well considering the TV Audience for 2010 World Cup (ie more than 20 minutes continuous) was 2.2 billion people (according to google) I think most would disagree.

or is it that those 2.2 billion have never been introduced to your little provincial game.
