I have to agree with King on this one.

If carlton had lost to Melbourne in 07 then they would not have got Kruser so I am sure that they are happy now they lost instead of winning a game that meant nothing & missing out on a great ruckman.
And if they'd won they could have got an even better player, like a Trent Cotchin or a Cyril Rioli.

Shut up, KE. Get a brain and start using it - and realise just how wrong you are.

I have no doubt Xman's right in his assessment of the importance of building a positive team culture and the relative uncertainty associated with which draft pick will be the best in future. What Xman doesnt get is that the world doesnt revolve around his assessment of things. This makes Xman a very narrow minded buffoon.

You see people have different opinions and different motivators and with the admissions of several high profile AFL figures we can all see that tanking was a very strong motivator for some dodgy individuals coaching and managing certain teams. We should not adhere to Xmans narrow vision and admonish those characters and acts that bring down the great sport of marngrook. :salute:
what admissions?

Ive never heard a coach say they lost on purpose.

Have you? :-k
I've already explained to you what tanking is, you can pretend to not understand but it seems like the majority of AFL fans on this site are against you now Xman. good try but you cant even pretend I'm just anti what you say anymore on this one. Everyone but you and TLPG believe and are honest enough to admit that foul play has occurred.

This ones doooone and dusted, locker up Xman! :\:
youve explained tanking is not trying to win.

Ive shown examples of other sports that prioritise player development over winning.

Thats all that happens. You have no proof to the contrary.

Oh #-o

You are the real deal arent you? The realest dunderbrain/confused buffoon there could be.

For the twelth time, and im not exaggerating here...thats how confused this buffoon really is, I explained that tanking was deliberately not trying to win in order to obtain a specific gain like high draft picks or a preferential position within the finals.

Confused buffoon is so apt for you Xman. I'm really happy i thought up the term...helps me cope with your ongoing struggles :)

youve failed to show evidence of the motive. Youve seen struggling teams and seen the reward for losing and assumed there is a connection. Youve ignored the reward of winning which is team development and boost in morale for supporter and club.

Youre all about assumptions, no proof.

Pete showed a perfect example where a team would have benefited from tanking yet they won despite every opportunity to lose. Why? because they know what everyone else knows, the advantages gained in winning outweight the advantages of losing.

And Pete agrees with me. #-o

Xman are you that insular that you really believe all football coaches and management could not possibly stray from the opinion you have explained?

And for the record i didnt ignore your comment on the benefits of winning. More and more proof you only read your own posts.

Coach Bailey seems to have a different opinion than you Xman. The nail in the coffin, proof tanking took place.

No he holds the same opinion - on experimentation.

You can't prove otherwise.

No, you haven't proven anything. The so called "damning quote" only proves experimentation.

Well? Nothing wrong with that. It helps the club decide who should be delisted to make room for the new draftees.

Bailey's comments were investigated and cleared.

Weve discussed them before.

He played players in different positions to accelerate their development. He played youth over aging players to position the list to make room for new draft picks.

This is old news and in no way proves tanking.

Yeah riiiiighht. AS I said there's a subtlety in the way the tanking takes place. Bailey put his foot in his mouth but the old "we were experimenting for good not evil" line was used once all hell broke loose. Since Bailey several high profile respectable folk have indicated it happened and that its happened on numerous occasions. Me? I prefer to believe them over two internet forum doofi called Xman and TLPG.

You don't believe them, KE. You don't believe anyone except yourself and your delusional view of the world. They never said what you claim they did. You just wish that's what they meant - when the reality is they didn't.

This forum doesn't revolve around your fantasy world, troll. You've got a choice. Admit that you are wrong - or get out.
