You had better START caring, Raider.

Because the government, which spends the money to build stadiums, cares.

If you only get big crowds at finals, and falling crowds at home-and-away games, it makes it hard for the government to justify spending to build a new stadium.
Good points Bruce and proven true by the NSW Government pulling away from building a new stadium at Moore Park. At the end of the day, the harsh reality is there simply isn't the demand for a new stadium in Sydney. As we speak 20,000 seats remain available for State of Origin next week in Sydney.

RL heartland :(/ :(/ :(/
The NRLOL only guaranteed sell out for the year is struggling to sell out! Even with tickets reduced to two for $100!

It looks like all those bandwagon fans of the state vs state gimmick of SOO have fallen off already?
what do you mean SOO Gimmick Bandwagon Supporters have fallen off all ready..

STATE OF ORIGIN has been going for 35 years. With non stop success
Who cares how long its been going for. The nrlol season has been going for decade as well.

Soo is struggling to sell out. All those bandwagon hoppers wanting to see their state beat another state seem to be over it.
the funniest thing every yewr about soo is all the hype, the when its over the nrlol goes back to mediocre level

WORLD CUP and Overseas internationals are bought separate. at Channel 7 bought the world cup

NRL DEAL A$1.025 billion A$925 million in cash and A$100 million in contributed benefits ("contra")
This Excludes Digital Telstra $75million and NZ $100mill Radio (unknown)
which gives you a figure of 1.2Bilion.

AFL DEAL A$1.253 billion of which A$1.18 billion is in cash and the rest in contra
this includes DIgital Radio / everything in deal.

TV DEALS Pretty much the same
AFL plus 2 extra sides

YES which do help with the NRL deal..
1 extra round. as each team has 2 byes through season
3 state of Origin games. plus 1 International.
as World cup is separate to the deal

but the AFL has 2 extra teams..

but the NRL effectively has far more games because almost all are shown in isolation compared to the AFLs 5-6 effecive games per round. They also have a longer season, and the network controls the flexible schedule

I Agree with all what you said.

yes The NRL Season is 1 full round longer and most games do not overlap.
has SOO and Internationals.

and yes The AFL has games go up against with each other. which do affect the ratings>
Though a lot of games a screen in to its each separate State.

but 3 big points also need to be addressed.

the AFL get x3 more adverts per game (if you watch SOO 1 week from now) watch how many adverts are in 1 half, lucky to be 3 , 4 )
and the Game it self goes for 1 hour longer.
and also has 2 extra teams in the premiership.

true. Simple answer is there are far too many factors that differ for each code, some favor the NRL, some favor the AFL.

The 2 vs 3 hour game time is a huge factor when quoting ratings figures. On Saturday if you watch 6 hours of NRL you are counted as watching 3 NRL games. For my 6 hours I am counted as watching only 2. You can watch all 8 games per weekend, I can only watch 5-6 because most are shown concurrently. Multiply these factors over 25 rounds and it makes an enormous difference

That is correct, there is negative and positives for both.

This thread is about the

SYDNEY STADIUMS PLAN

but it has DEGENERATED into the usual tired quibbling about TV ratings. Again.

TV ratings don't get stadiums built. Increasing crowds do. Don't you leaguies get it?!!!

When they bring TV ratings into a thread to try derail the argument, you know you've won. You see TV ratings is all they have to crow about. Pathetic I know. lol
