RLWC has been by far the best ever sso far, picking up some decent momentum in england honestly. looking through articles and other forums, people who weren't into league are getting into it. some say, and i completely agree, the minnows matches have been just as exciting as those in the RUWC.
Wembley matches should both hopefully sell out, Old Tradford will sell out no question. most games so far have sold out bar the opening which still got just under 50k.

Maybe that's where the future of rl resides ... On representative matches. Soo, works cup, internationals etc. given the declining health of the nrl with poor crowds etc maybe it is this format where energies could be focused. Still have the nrl but structure it like the union .??? Just a thought.

1 year =/= declining health of regular season.
nrlcrap or swans wouldn't accept union was dying after 8 years of continual decline, but somehow one year in league means the same.

I think you'll find I said that RL drop in crowds and tv ratings was cyclical and that this year may not reflect next year - RL is not going to disappear and the domestic comp will be strong - my point has usually been it is not national as in all reality only 2 states are involved (Melb Storm is there but there is only one victorian in RL at NRL LEVEL). I just don't except that over all it is the number one sport - like NUPHY's like RD and KE keep spouting - people in Sydney seem to have very narrow minds and think Sydney is Australia and not just part of Australia!

no i was referring to an argument i had about league vs union and after i provided stats that indicated union falling from IIRC 23k or 24k average in 2006 of games in australia to 16.5k in 2013, that union was not dying and that i should get back to him in 2031.
that's what happens when league and union start of equally, union only has its superior international competition thats keeping it going

number 2 for the NRL and you know it,
the only place where the NRL leads are pokies & fudging & thats been proven!
if you can prove other wise, everybody would love to see it!
And yet who made more money outside of said media deals?
Or doesn't money matter outside of said media deals?

love how all the AFL posts are about crowds, 2009-2012 NRL > AFL in tv ratings 1.3 billion deal even though the games only go for 2 hours.
Like I have said MANY times you have to look at more than just TV ratings - the last NRL TV deal prior to last year was a fraction of the previous AFL deal (750 mil) the NRL got 1.025 in the AUSTRALIAN broadcast deal NZ last I looked was not part of AUSTRALIA! So for TV revenue from the AUSTRALIAN TV deal the AFL win and has always won - then we go to crowds, sponsorship, total revenue streams, memberships and lastly participation and again the AFL clearly win - before you try and tell us that TV ratings are the ONLY consideration AGAIN - tell me this would you rather that the NRL had all these boxes ticked or not? If the answer is yes than you have a paradox in your argument which is unsustainable! I have said many times that TV ratings are far from accurate (3000 sets in a population of 7mil is less than .1% most scientific studies would tell you it can only be a loose guide without the information of WHERE those sets are located, the AGE of the occupants and the CULTURAL background - information that we are not supplied with!). As for the length of time some would argue that the AFL is greater value for money - for consumer, Advertisers and broadcaster so how this is particularly relevant I still don't know. The fact is that there is 49k participants for AF in NSW but only 2500 RL participants in Vic - (less than play AF in England the home of RL!) this is the same in Tas, SA and WA - until RL has participation, NRL clubs and memberships like AFL in those states RL is not national and is 2nd - a position it could lose to the A-League!
