$180 mill in the bank today while one VFL team in Sydney has just cost $200+ million, hmmmmmm, which is better?
You'd rather money in the bank doing nothing than an investment in future growth?

I'd rather have it in the bank instead of flying out and spending it every which way but loose straight away.

Sorta like thinking about what to do with it before spending.

There's a new commission and CEO on his way, let them get into the game first before trying anything radical.

Ok, now that ive actually had some sleep, lets let the recalibration commence *sigh*

AFL Income in 2011: $343 million (although the concise report also says total comprehensive income was $387 million)
AFL Media income: 154.2 million (139 million in tv, 12 million in new media, and 3.2 million in radio, 10 million in naming rights)
AFL Income less media: 178 million

NRL Income in 2011: 170 million
NRL Media Income in 2011: 112.16 million (83 million in tv, 15 million new media and naming rights, 14 million NZ, $160k radio)
NRL income less media: 57.84 million

*Notes: NRL media income includes the 500 million paid for tv rights on the assumption there was no contra payment. I havent found any reports of this. Previous NRL deals were for 6 years, not 5, although this years NRL NZ rights were a one off to bring the rights inline with the rest of the NRL media rights negotiations.

Assuming no changes in AFL/NRL non media income streams at presently reported figures:

AFL Total Income 2012-2016: 2.062 Billion
AFL annual Income 2012-2016: 412.54 million

NRL Total Income 2013-2017: 1.462 Billion
NRL Annual Income 2013-2017: 292.4 million

The AFL would thus have an income stream up to 600 million higher over 5 years, or 120 million annually. Its worth noting the AFL deal ends the year before the NRL deal does, and the the NRL figure for the next 5 years has not had the 90 million advance payment for rights reduced accordingly.
F me you are " special" aren't you
160K for our radio rights a year ..... 1/20th of the VFL's 8-[ ....

the most watched game in the land ... would of course .. also be the most listened to as well
yet ... for some reason thats unexplained .. the NRL allows radio stations in NSW & QLD get away with paying a 20th of what radio stations in the ***** sthn states pay for VFL
thats odd isn't it

oh wait

they don't

NRL radio rights are currently 1.5 Million a year
& they will double to 3 million a season from 2013

hmmmmmmmmmm........................ nahhhhhhhhhh
not even close

VFL income from 2012 to 2016
media ... 1.253 Billion includes 150 mill contra
radio .. 23 mill
naming ... 50 mill
non media .. 900 mill

2.226 Billion .... 445 million a year ... take out the contra its 2.076 billion or 415 mill a year

NRL income from 2013 to 2017
media... 1.225 Billion ..100 mill contra included .. & assumption of NZ rights being only 100m .. could be higher , & not including the revenue share arrangment with telstra for non telstra customers to get access to the NRL which could rake in millions more over the 5 year period
naming 50 mill
radio 15 mill
non media 435 mill

1.725 Billion ... 348 million a year ... take out contra .. its 1.625 Billion .. or 328 Million a year

a difference of only 87 mill

& as we have said before

the NRL has straight up annual essential costs of
grants .. 112m
development .. future fund ... 45m

leaving it 171m a year

the VFL has
national development 60m a year
GWS & Thuns .... 40m a year ( this includes 20m for both teams caps per year )
grants ( salary cap) ... 160 mill a year

leaving it with 155m a year

the codes are on a level footing ...financially neck & neck
the VFL has higher revenue
the NRL .. lower costs

theres nothing between their bottom lines now

for years the NRL has had to fight with one arm behind its back
not any more

look the F out ............here we come

Can you explain your NRL non media amount of 435 million Dave? Which according to your calculations is 87 million a year. Correct me if I am wrong but I am getting 170 million (current total) - 83 million (AUS TV) - 14 million (NZ TV) - 15 million (Naming/online) - 1.5 million (radio according to dave) = 56.5 million a year or 282.5 million over 5 years.

Raiderdave where did you get the nRL $15 million figure for radio? Out of your arse again? It's going to be worth a pathetic $2 million if that you halfwit.

Also, the AFL naming rights would be worth much more than $10 million a season given that's what they were worth 8 years ago and a new deal was signed last year.

NRL radio rights are NOT currently worth 1.5 million a year. Oddly enough We're both wrong apparently.
http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/leag ... 290xg.html

The price of the rights will be less than $2 million, a mere 1/500th of the TV rights
That said he also says that last seasons radio rights payment was less than a million.

And either way you are way off base. As you have been in every thread Ive seen you post in. Consider your posts ignored in future.
as are you.. yr not even close
160K a season up to 320K a season from next year ... 8-[
