Not at all. It would be nice to count them evenly though.

The AFL don't broadcast into NZ, they used to back in the 90's but was canned shortly after. NRL have the NZ warriors and allows us to justify adding NZ figures week in week out. We also broadcast all NRL games on NZ fox and have a Tv right contract with them. The AFL don't broadcast for profit to any nation in the world its called aussie rules for a reason Xman, you know the Australian game that no other nation plays professionally.
So when the AFL have a team in NZ or another country sure you can add pay tv ratings for that country but until then suck it up princes. :D
And on that note cant wait to get a team in PNG in the NRL, that's over 7 million population in that country and the national game is rugby league. More ratings to rub in your face Xman :D

Nice try at moving the posts Xman, so you admit that it is more then fair for us to add NZ ratings due to us having a NZ team in the comp and broadcast all our games to NZ?
And soon to be PNG team in the next 10-15 years.
NZ ratings are irrelevant when comparing codes for the Australian markets.
Xman why do you think sports administrators harp on about ratings so much? Because it brings in the tv deals.
Nrl have a Tv right's deal with NZ for all NRL games, thus the ratings in NZ are relevant for NRL but not relevant for AFL.
End of story.

The NRL rave on about tv rights more than any other game in Australia for 2 reasons:

1. The tv ratings are the only area they come remotely close to the AFL. Everything else isn't even a debate the AFL are so far in front.

2. The NRL relies on the tv rights for a massive proportion of their revenue due to their poor crowds, sponsorship deals and memberships.

NZ may be important to the NRL but even including these ratings they will be below the AFLs figures for each round, and below the AFLs deal.

The ARL Commission is currently locked in negotiations with host broadcasters Channel Nine and other interested parties for a new 10-year TV rights deal tipped to bring a $1 billion revenue windfall to the game.

Talk today the NRL may enter in to a new 10yr contract with ch9 and foxtel for 1bil.

How underwhelming. :-k

Everything is speculation atm so don't get so carried away.

The wookie
speculation on the ABC online today is for 1 billion over 10 years. I wonder if thats an additonal billion on top of the curretn 500 million or not.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-04-2...?section=sport
See if its what wookie says then thats 1.5bill every 5 years witch is a awesome deal. See speculation buddy. :D

Wishful thinking. I'd say Wookie was suggesting 1.5b over 10 yrs.

Given how much RL supporters hate ch9 the reaction would be horrific if the deal left them with ch9 for 10 years.

There not even though are they ! ours are more than double yours . It's not hard to figure out why the AFL are so desperate to discredit them
