So to get this straight.

The official combined FTA and foxtel ratings AFL is slaughtering the nrl ratings.
The AFL is grossing many more viewers on foxtel.
Fox footy is rating higher than Fox sports 2
Because of this the nrl muppets don't have a platform to stand on. So now they are saying we get more viewers per game, and since only half the games are shown they are doing some mysterious calculations to say if we had more games on we would be rating more on foxtel.

What I can't understand is, The numbers in, so what's there to argue?

hmm

it would appear you have very little straight

so I'll set you straight you singletball loving merkin

the VFL even with the addition of foxtel appear to be only pulling the same ratings as the NRL when all veiwers are counted
around 4.5 Million
& this is with the NRL having one game less

tell me
what do you think will occur when we also add foxtel veiwers to our FTA broadcasts from 2013
& add an extra game in 2015
I mean... we nearly get you right now on pay .. we attract almost the same ratings
we currently average 270K a game on pay X 5.. thats 1.350 mill veiwers
.. to the VFL's paltry 170K X 9... 1.530 mill

whats 270K X 9...2.430 Mill
or more then 50% more veiwers then then VFL by 2015

its not even a contest
the VFL is a distant 2nd when oranges are compared with oranges

suck it up
accept reality my delusional AFL firend
theres a lad

4.5mil!

They're averaging 2.9m this year without regionals. Are you suggesting they're getting 1.6 regionals? :^o :^o [-X

Even their 2 live targeted fn games barely get 500k. Are suggesting they get 1.1m regionals from their delayed fn game and Sunday game? These games don't even make the top 20 FTA list! They'd be lucky to get 400k regionals combined!

Last year the official aggregate viewers for the NRL was 128m yet this site had in the order of $78m. The missing 50m equates to a 64% increase on the 78m. The "missing" numbers would not only be regional FTA but I suspect Austar and Optus cable numbers. Thus getting 1.6m on average from regionals or should we say adding back the "missing" easily increases the total number to that quoted.

Are You Serious?

We have just 3 games on FTA - you lot have 9 matches, to varying degrees, on FTA.
We have just 5 matches ot Pay tv Your lot have 9.
No regionalare viewers are counted on this Site - this is despite the fact that we have teams in Newcastle, Woolongong, Canberra,Gold Coat & Towsville.
we also have a team in NZ but these ratings dont count either.

Yeah really easy to understand dave, they can keep turning the blind eye to regionals and the extra coverage/extra game but the truth will always haunt them. :D

I cant wait to have all games on FTA/Fox like they do atm next year with the new TV Deal, its going to get embarrassing for them.

The truth is they show 4 FTA games in to each market. They also have about 6 games on foxtel because at least 3 games directly clash with another foxtel game so.

The NRL have a longer season and include SOO in their figures so they may be behind on FTA games per round but they catch up because of these extras.

Regionals for the NRL last year were 38mil. For the AFL they were 23mil despite areas of AFL heartland not being counted.

I think you are the delusional one. These mysterious 1.6million viewers. I haven't seen any official numbers from them, for all you know they could be 100k.

All you lot last year kept on saying wait to next year when the AFL has all there matches on foxtel, then we will slaughter you. Now all I read here is, wait until next year then we will show you.

I have yet to see concrete numbers saying nrl is beating the AFL ratings this year. All i hear is, we would have won because we need to add a million viewers here, a 100k here, and how about another 200k cos that means we won them.

Fact of the matter is, no matter how many games are on FTA or foxtel, AFL is hands down beating nrl in ratings my deluded friend.

All 9 matches have some form of FTA coverage - digital channels goto 80 % of the audience.

Dont give me that Bullshit. Foxtel bought 9 games and they show 9 games!

So,What Are we talking about an extra 18 FTA matches - its Ok then :D - its a level playing field. 200 AFL matches - 100 League matches.

210 - 130 PTV matches  :) [-X

The funny part is we will still have outrate you anyrate :D :D :D

What are you on? There are 4 FTA games shown to each city. No more!

There are not 9 payTV games shown in isolation. They compete with each other! One is shown on fox footy and another on fox 1 at the same time! therefore there are actually only 6 games shown in isolation. The NRL have 5. So the difference is not that big.

But you're certainly forgetting the biggest difference. The NrL games are averaged over 2 hours, a massive advantage over a 3 hour program in pure numbers. But the reality is the 3 hour program is far more impressive, and valuable!

You know somethings are not that hard to work out when you stop and think about it. There are approx 12.5m people who live in ACT/NSW/QLD. Of these around 7.5m live in Sydney/Brisbane/Gold Coast. That means that 5m people, who support NRL at least as much as the city people do, live outside the metro ratings areas in places like Canberra,Newcastle and the Hunter, Wollongong and the Illawarra, Townsville ad Cairns. So when you see the ratings for the metro areas it is straight forward to add at least 50% to them to get an idea of the total audience. This applies to cable as well as it is pretty clear that this site does not include the viewers on Austar/Optus

The reality is that these other cities/regions are even bigger followers of league. One of the reasons being they have their own teams.

That may be right, But, as I said all matches carry some kind of FTA coverage.

We have 5 pay TV games. one of those overlaps but believe me the number is still 5. !

You Forget Sydney & Queensland get more bucks for advertising space , heaps more than WA and SA. something that more than counterbalances your argument.

Another thing you forget is that top rating events draw megabucks - we have 4 you have 1

AFL have 3 live games and one delayed on FTA. NRL 1 live and 2 delayed on FTA.
AFL 9 games live on Fox. NRL 5 games Live on Fox
Link below shows these facts as per wookie a AFL tragic.

I think this speaks for itself guys when we say you have way more live games and coverage.
