In AFL the only question is who will run second to Richmond . The Bookies already have them at even money.
it's hardly unusual to have a strong favourite. The Tigers have won a single GF in38 years, and that was last year. About time they had a turn at success

Some absolute cracking games overnight!
The final quarter of the Cats v Demons was the best of the season so far. Imo
The finals race is really winding up...... For one league.
In the AFL two games now seperate 4th to 12th.
Percentage really comes into play when it's this close.
And over in the NRL camp, 2 games still separates 8th and 9th.
With absolutely no change to top eight since round 13, the halfway point of the season.
(Yawn)

Yep, with the Hawks belting Carlton the win and percentage boost squeezes them back in the eight in place of the Cats who's win with a goal after the siren kept their percentage on hold.
Now, with the danger of sounding like a broken record.
Over in the NRL camp, no change to the top eight again.
Still no change since round 13.
The halfway point of their season.
But, it's great to see the mighty Storm assume their rightful position at the top.
The first big tick to sticking up our northern counterparts.
Particularly that gutter rat Gallop.
Next, the minor Premiership.
Then Premiers!

many sports introduce rule changes to address issues around game play. How is this different?

How ..
You must have missed the part or just ignored where the tv exec who outlaid huge $$ to buy the rights is asking for rule changes because tv ratings have been in free fall .
Because the game is now an ugly mess
I can't recall other tv execs doing that ....or asking for rule changes .
That's how it's different .. .

so you're not having a go at the AFL for changing some rules, only that the game is ugly?

Well, another week closer to the ultimate glory.
And the battle for the finals could barely be closer......
For one league.
The AFL served up some finals like games.
With 4th placed Sydney going down to the Bombers their position was looking shaky.
But I was shocked to see them slide all the way down to 9th as the 5 teams below them all registered wins.
Such is the closeness of the battle.
2 wins now seperate 3rd to 11th.
And looking at the draw it's very difficult to see who will ultimately make the eight.
And over in the NRL camp, no change to the top eight.....
Again.
That's absolutely to change to the top eight since round 13.
And still 2 wins seperating 8th and 9th.
That is truely "shitter than dog shit"
So many dead rubbers. Week after week after week.
An indictment on the league to allow half the teams no chance of finals for half a season by stacking the draw at the front end.
I recall saying "when you front end anything, the back end always suffers"
Seems to be playing out that way.
But rest assured leaguers. The best team will win.
The Melbourne Storm are winding up for a smashing finals series.
