There's a behind at the end of the video. I thought I told you to watch closely nlol! [-X
the behind isnt registered until 2.03 and the video ends at 2.09, so the kick in isnt shown
I already provided a vid of ball in before in this thread. It took about 35 seconds out of the game and 95% of players were walking or standing still the whole time  don't pretend you didn't see it nlol
which video?
 and I'm afraid ur dead wrong again with the vid showing many players moving quickly during stoppages, there's barely any, possibly max 10% of all players moving quickly during stoppages, prob much less. don't lie to our members and guests so blatantly nlol! [-X I mean anyone who watches the vid will now know that you don't have a clue what you're on about but, well, have some respect for yourself dude [-X
you're blind.

From 0.42 to 1.22 EVERY player makes their way from defence to attack. So within your 2 minute video all 36 players have run 50-100 metres to follow the ball from the right back pocket, to the left back pocket, to the right again, then through the centre square to the forward 50. This is one of numerous fast ball movements that occurs every few minutes in ARs.

Where as in RL the few involved in the play run a small distance , while everyone else stands still, walks or jogs slowly. The difference in play is stark, and the GPS figures show it
Oh dear, this is just pathetic. The set shot for the behind begins about 1:25. This is when players stop for their resty time. I mean common now. I'm working with clowns here! #-o

Ummm nlol? Thanks! :thumbleft: From 42-1.22 is about the only time in the 2.11 video that players are actually running (apart from when the interchanges occur :(/ )

Gps figures sHow AFL players run 12km in two hours  and they walk and stand still for heaps of time :(/

Endurance supremos the AFL players are not

Just look at the massive numbers of players walking it out!

No wonder it's hard to tell the difference in physiques ---
AFL player or Olympic walker?

20 second video of a stoppage and you can still see players at the top of the screen running for the ball. You think this supports your argument??

Find me another team sport where the average player runs over 12kms in 100 minutes

Even these two clowns know that 90 interchanges ... Down from 120 is laughable

a lot of people think there are too many interchanges, including me, because it allows players to run all game and congest the play

So watch again nlol!

 and the video starts well after the stoppage had started!

AFL gps stats - accurately measuring the sprints, long walks, and interchange trots AFL players do each game

Alrighty, found a choice lil vid, well it was basically the first that wasn't too long and it's really helpful for those people like sport capital and nlol, who unlike me probably haven't played AFL and just don't understand the amount of rest time players get.

It's a great lil vid for this thread and it shows a few ball ups, a penalty and a set shot miss

On the evidence at hand I'm happy to now readjust the ball up to only 15 seconds avg resty time (there's shitloads of ball ups by the way)

In regards to ball ins, I've showed one vid which shows 30sedonds plus, nlols shown one a fair bit quicker than that so I'll say fair play and put the avg in between at 24 seconds.

Now everyone, sit down, make urself comfortable and watch this short two minute video titled 'hawthorn moving the ball up the field'. I mean really watch it. It includes two ball ups, a penalty and a set shot at goal. It goes for 2minutes and 11seconds and I don't think anyone can tell me the vast majority of players are running for more than about 50seconds of the vid!!! Most the time they're walking or standing completely still, resting.

 my favourite part? Queue to 1min 30 seconds and you'll see a man sprinting hard towards the sideline, the camera then zooms out and then you'll see several players (3 or 4 interchanges! ) also running faster than almost all of any players in the vid!

Furthermore whilst I've reduced my avg resty time for ball ups and ball ins I need to increase the time for goals and behinds because, as in this vid, goals and behinds often come off a mark where a set shot at goal takes place and stops the game for far longer than my 30second (behind) and 1minute (goal)

So the new resty times are

Ball in --- 24secomds

Ball up ---- 15 seconds

Behind ---- 40 seconds

Goal ---- 1min 20 seconds

The stoppages in play give AFL players shit loads of rest, absolute shitloads!!!
You are fucking kidding yourself!
Any chance you could post a relevant video.
Way back when your "choice lil vid" happened, 5 years ago.
There was no shot clock, no deliberate out of bounds and the umpires directive was pretty lax.
Your "choice lil vid" is as relevant as an alfresco dining area on an Airbus A380. Totally fucking irrelevant!
Try posting something modern and relevant for once.
Your method of using ancient footage to back an up to date topic is pretty lame. And clearly points to your limited capacity to carry a decent argument.
Try you little stop watch on a clip from this year and then post your times chump?
Prepare for a rude shock.

Oh dear, sporty seems very cranky. Have I hit a few nerves with ya sport?

I don't give two shits whether it's this year or 2010 really, the numbers simply tell us that the AFL players get shitloads of resty their legs time. Here's some numbers for ya sport Ol chap ;)

Average AFL quarter duration --- 30 mins, actual playing time? 20mins  thats a whole third of the quarter duration actually being STOPPAGE TIME

And let's not forget these numbers

90 interchanges, down from 120 :(/

Oh yeah and why not give the AFL players 32 mins of resty me legs time over quarter, half and three quarter time!

It's a fukkin restathon out there on the AFL field, THE NUMBERS DONT LIE!

And we wouldn't want it any other way.
This is Eddy's argument.
If they go lower than 90 they'll be a reduction in the pace of the game. I agree with him for once. The pace is what makes it so fucking good.
Less interchanges = slower game.
Without the "resty my legs time" it would be more like RL.
And why the fuck would we want to go down that path.
That would be absolutely diabolical.
Let's picture that.
Teeth pulling painfully slow play. :(/
Highlight packages full of fuck all. Maybe a goal or two.
A Lopsided dog shit compitition. :(/
Crowd figures to rival....... Well........ Inter school Sports days. :(/
Participation rates sliding into oblivion along with sponsorships. :(/
A commission as incompetent as a one handed surgeon, considering they let it happen. :(/
A pack of mostly overweight blokes occasionally running or being mildly athletic. :(/
Oh, and viewership, we all know we're that would end up.

So in essence it's all those "resty my leggy time" that allows our game to be exactly the way we like it. Fast and exciting!

You made a good point earlier even you said that people from all walks of life can play our game.
The simple reason. They want to.
The same certainly can't be said for your little league.

So when you're ready let us all know why we would sanely change anything.
It seems to me your little semi-professional league could learn a thing or ten from ours.
You might want to start with a few more "resty my leggy time" it could improve the game play to a level people might start liking it again.

Or, just keep the blinkers on, she'll be right...

Your wrong. The viewership would drop right off if our game slowed down to "league speed" not to be confused with "light speed". Way different. No one in their right mind would turn that shit on.

You just don't use any grey matter when thinking .
The sport that has the second most viewers year after year ..would lose viewers if they became like the sport that wins each year .

Jesus h fuck .
The vicderpian education system needs a massive overhaul .
