You got any evidence for this BS?
Most subscribers to Foxtel would have it for sport, which is why the majority of fox's best ratings shows are sport. No one I know gets foxtel for the variety of channels. Some maybe for shows like GOT's but the vast majority for NRL, RU or AFL.

It only gives choice to those with fox. If you dont have fox youre locked into what every game is shown in your city. Often this is a local team who may be involved in the lesser game of the two playing. Also, I compared Thursday and Friday when neither code has choice.

1. Neither game will achieve over 500k because they are not shown nation-wide. So 2 games for a total of around 1m. The the only single game the AFL has that achieves around 1m is Friday night. Where as the NRL get a single game with 1m viewers for both Thursday and Friday.
2. If the game shown into Melbourne is between two poorly performing sides, and the game shown into Perth and Adelaide is the match of the round, splitting the games actually reduces the potential audience. This happened last year when Adelaide played Sydney, which was one of the matches of the year, yet Melbourne were shown Carlton v Brisbane (or similar)

Thats exactly right! Than those ratings are added to ratings from other areas and you get your total.

That's an easy one. The NRL has rep football and the club competition only takes up 80% of our efforts! whereas you have nothing else.
Just remember though , AFL has more FTA games of a night and the NRL ,and yet the AFL get past the 1m ratings mark the same number of times as NRL at club level....

So you acknowledthe AFL competition rates better than the NRL but RL takes the lead with reps and internationals?

yep, and the total is from 2 games. Therefore claiming we both have a similar number of games for the season is simply incorrect. We need 2 games to make up what a single game gets when shown in isolation

not all games are going to hit 1 mill mark..

How do you suppose a Brisbane Lions v Port Adelaide will hit the 1million mark.
that is why the AFL splits the games, so it increases the figure overall..

Lions v Port would still get more than bluckbuster on Saturday night, because neither can be shown nation-wide.

I agree the AFL have the better deal. However, Claiming there are over 200 games on TV is misleading because 2 games get the same ratings as one when shown at the same time
