I think the NRL has alot more aces up its sleave regards to expansion.
Its just a matter of when and if the commission has the balls.

We have room in SA and WA for another team, I highly doubt they'd ever go over 18 teams though, not for a long time anyway.

Go back to the early 90s . The NRL had just signed the biggest TV contract in Australia's sporting history , the AFL were fighting of extinction. Enter News Ltd and there takeover of league . League was basically left treading water for 20 years while the AFL went ahead. But not no more, News Ltd have gone and the AFL soon will be.

Lucky they got a decent payday, they'll be able to waste it all on propping up 4 Northern sinkholes and pay Essingbongs legal bills bahahahaahahah.

It has been well known for years that before the sl war, the NSWRL was flying along with record tv deals and such, If I can find an old winfeild cup youtube review I'll post it. There was one I think it was in the 100 years series that came out a decade or so ago. Compared the then deals of both sports. Rupes then wanted his own pound of flesh in regards tv rights won then by more or less taking over the sport then paying them what he believed they needed to just putt along in second gear for the next 20 years with their very own puppet running the ship yet as soon as he leaves, they bag the code for how it had been run for years while pumping their ex employee who had moved to soccer.

They really are a weird bunch at that news limited joint, fair dinkum.
