Good to see you're taking an interest in the VFL - probably a good match for the nrl.

Meanwhile in the AFL, an expansion team in it's debut game is most likely have an above AFL average and possibly an AFL openning record crowd. We wont even bother comparing it to pathetic nrl crowds.

dave, the more you try to spin this, the more you advertise the fact that Sydney is becoming at home to AFL.
Nice try Cos.

I wonder how many NRL games will get over 30k this weekend?
well co.ckhead ..........considering 7 of the 8 NRL games are being played in venues that don't hold 30K
it could only be 1 anyway

the Bulldogs V Newcastle at ANZ
with an out of town side playing .. it won't get 30K either .. mid 20's I'd say

hmmmm.. but this is puzzling
VFL crowds bigger with 1 Sydney side playing prior to 2012
now smaller with 2 sydney sides playing :?

ummm 8-[
marcus ... how does that work ? :-k
Yet you still don't pack out these smaller stadiums and the larger ones are virtually empty. #-o

The swans average more at ANZ because they play the more popular opposition there to allow for a larger audience. The swans would still average 20-25k of their own supporters no matter which stadium they play in. The rest would be the opposition supporters.

Remember, AFL fans are happy to travel interstate to support their team. nRL fans won't travel to the next suburb. #-o

Did the VFL pack their smaller suburban grounds in Melbourne out prior to moving to just the 2 venues
nope they did not ...
the VFl average was around the early 20K 's at times in the 80's
the NRL average is around 17K today
quite comparable I'd say

The VFL would still get massive crowds at the MCG in the 80s and earlier. In 1980 the VFL had 5 home and away games above 50k and 10 above 40k. You can't say the same for the NRL today. Nothing more embarrassing than some of the crowds at ANZ or other larger capacity stadiums

You're right. How much more popular do you want ?
This game will be bigger than the AFL average.
All probability it will be an AFL openning record.
It will be at twice to three times bigger the average nrl game.
It'll be four times as big as some Sydney nrl games.

Why do you keep on doing this dave?
You keep drawing attention to a big win by the AFL!!!
Nice try Cos.

No,indicating collingwood and other large AFL clubs have fans willing to travel to Sydney, which are generally for blockbuster games. GWS will have a modest number of fans in their first year which is Hardly a surprise! the contest will also likely be one sided.

Yeah right. Geelong play in Geelong. Adelaide in Adelaide. Perth teams in Perth. Sydney in Sydney. Brisbane in Brisbane. Suns on the GC.

Melbourne still play in their Position. Almost all other Melbourne teams are still located at their original locations for training etc, but play at larger venues.

Saying AFL is soulless is a joke. it has maintained more tradition than your game by a country mile!
