we're a small city ...... Govt based ... very little corps are based here
but like I said
the Raiders knew this ... & planned ahead
they are capable of riding this out ... & for a long time too if need be.

the Brumbies don't have a major sponsor either
but didn't plan ahead

they are in serious trouble ........... the Raiders .. are not.

They also get very little tv coverage because ch9 prefer to cover only the bigger rl teams. So what sponsor will want them when they get such poor exposure. They get terrible crowds so barely any exposure there. I would say they're the more significant reasons. After all the entire eastern Australia is struggling economy wise, not just the ACT.

they've signed deals without TV exposure in the past .. & we'll have a fixed schedule from 2013 anyway
so thats not a drama

crowds are good for a team that hasn't had much success in recent times
10K members in 2011 .... that many again in 2012.. not 1 crowd below 10K in 2011 despite finishing 2nd last ... thats never happened in the previous 29 years , & this despite playing a few games on Monday nights in the middle of a freezing Canberra Winter
the clubs doing fine at the gate

& yes you're right
lots of clubs from all codes to feel the pinch as sponsors will be harder & harder to find in this economic climate
do they have the back up the Raiders do though ?
