I think Union is closer to Aussie rules in that it is flowing game - that’s my opinion anyway and can watch Union more so than nrl as find it more interesting and something going on all the time - ball is always in play and none of the 6 tackles thing - so as an Aussie rules fan Union appeals more to me - the rules though …….. seems the players find these confusing too sometimes
Dear oh dear Fred. The only game slower and more stop/start than RU is gridiron. RU spends half the time setting and re-setting scrums and checking replays for obscure real breaches for minutes on end.
The average in RU for ball in play time is 30-35 minutes out of 80. More than half the time they're standing around doing nothing. In RL ball in play avg is 60 minutes. Twice as much. There is no comparison.
You might want to check your confirmation bias Freddo. It don't add up pal.
in previous. empires, Roman etc sport in general and other things gambling and alcohol are escape mechanisms, used to keep the masses stupid and distracted its only a matter of how much people allow there lives to be influenced by those. Union and Gridion are more stop and start than league, but are far more tactical, skilled games by nature. then you have league,
not every sports fan or member of the public likes stupid games of predictable bash and crash involving little skill like league! Different sports appeal to different people with different levels of intellect
FFS makingshitup, you really are obsessed with Rugby League. Do you ever think or talk about anything else pal? Its a great compliment that you spend your whole life obsessing about Australia's most watched and loved sport. But do yaself a favour pal and take a break for a day or two. Go outside your little bunker and smell the roses..............maybe yell at a few clouds if it makes ya feel good..........do something different......live ya life pal. Your wasting your life on an obsession. FFS do better!!!!!!!

I tend to agree, Union and Gridiron are game where tactics play a big part.
A high level of skill is required by profession players.
Unfortunately Rugby League is devoid of the high skill levels on show in Union and Gridiron.
As for tactics in RL, what tactics.
Union and Grid iron are a joy to watch, RL is dull and repetitive to watch, that is why there is
absolutely no hope of it gaining any traction in the USA

It’s rather interesting how the Americans are taking the liking to Union over league the more skilled and tactically sophisticated game of the two.
The lovely people of America arnt known for there love of higher study or knowledge of worldly affairs cultures or staying in shape.
More a case of yee ha America, we love wrestling, blowing things up cheese, bud light and being fat.
It appears even the simplest yet seemingly happy folk of the USA, league is to a simple, repetitive boring game for them.
