Interesting :
if an agreement has not been reached by the end of tomorrow, then DAZN will likely withhold its final two financial instalments. The league could attempt to recover this money through the financial guarantees of DAZN’s parent company, Access Industries. Yet, this will be time-consuming and would be the subject of a court battle.
very interesting>>
DID FOX just want to tie up all the big sports>> cause they new they wanted to SELL ??
so it did not matter how much they threw at the AFL>>>
the timing is amazing >>> FOX Sell 1st season of beginning of mammoth deal

Leroy - are Dazn able to just reneg on paying - walk away ? I wouldn’t think k they could - they may argue to renegotiate but not sure they could walk away? What it may do is give them fodder to say to NRL - listen the previous owners paid way over - we are stuck with that - but there is no way we can pay anything near that.
i dont think they could walk away, (depending what is in contract) data numbers to reach etc etc..
that is 100% what is circling>>
DAZN are saying we paid overs for the AFL >> this could effect NRL tv DEAL>
a very interesting road block in the way.
I can’t see the video due to hopeless wifi at an airport but in the post it says rumours Zazn want to renegotiate the deal. The post is coming from a nrl fan so it makes the statement less credible than a meth head on a bender

And is stuck over paying for the biggest dud sport in the nation
good job DAZN
If the AFL get less so will the NRL due to the rapidly shifting nature of the board casting land scape

And LeRoy - if there is a stare off btw dazn and nrl - with dazn saying they can’t pay near what Fox paid AFL - and nrl are saying they want the same - or more per inflation- (and it is looking like dazn is up for a fight going on what they are doing overseas) where does this leave the nrl? FTA aren’t going to pay anywhere near the amount for exclusive - anything on FTA will be in partnership with subscription. Paramount - with 10? Optus just gave away the soccer? Would such a stance begin a cycle of downward pressure of costs of tv right? Who blinks first?

Stan have already indicated to PVL they will give the NRL what they're asking for all the rights , which is considerably more then they're getting now

The rapidly changing landscape dying traditional advertising markets of how people rapidly the landscape is changing.
If the AFL is forced to take a hair cut so will the nrl as every year less money locally as it goes over seas

PVL has been brilliant as per usual
saying all the right things
showing Stan /Ch 9 , their very future could be secured with having all the NRL rights on the same station , FTA & Streaming
now if DAZN wanna go cheap
they'll be escorted from the building................. very quickly

Sure spambot Ed
If the AFL is forced to take a haircut so will the NRL not get what they are asking for as more competition and money goes over seas meaning less money locally

it has made the NRL's tv talks a little more interesting>>
If you look at raw data NRL is king on TV >>>
so DAZN will not win that battle of Paying more for a product where another key player out rates it in pretty much every category
however (not saying it will) but if AFL's contract was downgraded.. this will also have a flow on effect to NRL i would say.. its all speculation
The Big Player is Ch9 9now Stan
Its been stated numerous times they would like the whole package... but at what cost ??
TEN and Paramount made a big play for AFL > and lost, i have not heard boo from them with the NRL
Costs for tv rights on FTA>> will come down to the CODE> how much do they want on FTA for the FANS>
PVL has stated he does not want to lock out the fans by paying big costs..
so i thought that was interesting>>

Yes - agree - the death knell of any sport I believe is to go solely to pay tv - Union is a case in point - dare I say cricket is heading that way - I didn't even know it was on re: west indies. and had no interest - let alone pay for it.

I see this as a good thing. Get the game off Fox, and give it back to channel 10 so more glorious queenslanders can bask in the greatness of AFL
