I think if they could get a team of players who would qualify for Victoria under the rules for SoO - that would help - like it was a real Vic team - but that's a long way off.

Rugby League could be extremly Popular in Perth and Melbourne.
And State OF Origin would still be Very Popular.

it would actually probably be more popular, as teams situated in those states get more involved.
with players in there team (Perth for example) played for NSW and QLD

this happened with the Storm being in the NRL. With players playing for Melbourne Storm that played for the MAROONS>
Now we see 400k Plus from Melbourne tuning into a game NSW v QLD (this figure does not include Regional Victoria or BVOD
SoO is indeed a popular thing in Victoria as it is a marquee thing. You’ll also see other marquee games such as baseball or even when the nfl come - rate well and draw crowds. Grand finals also the same for both codes. I know many Storm fans pissed that their team was hobbled because of missing players due to SoO.

When the arl can fields a Victorian state of origin that would be good.

I thought it would be good to have Storm go up against nsw and/or qld - with Storm getting to keep all their qls born players. Would be interesting. That would draw a lot of interest in Victoria.
Baseball or NFL ??
they have not even played in Melbourne yet ?? and of course NFL is going to be BIG its the first NFL for points ever...
its gurantted to sell out... and its not because of Melbourne any CIty in Australia would of sold out.

State of ORIGIN gets 3 games poer year good ratings..

See state of origin will never become a Victorian thing in Rugby League even if they had 100 players..
You have to grow up with State of Origin to understand (it stays with NSW v QLD)
You are aware that the VFL had state of origin before the NSWRl? It lost favour with the clubs because their priority was the normal season…I used to like watching them.

This Myth captain ?
this stinking filthy fumbler lie ? ( like about 100 they trot out regularly )     :(/ :(/ :(/

Rugby League invented the concept at the end of the 2nd world war
servicemen from NSW & QLD played the 1st series in PNG while waiting to be sent back home & came up wth the idea that men would represent their state of origin
not where they enlisted

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/austra ... 5jnut.html

https://crslsb.org.au/first-state-of-or ... ostscript/

no doubt a fumbler , maybe a servicemen from vicdumboh or a relative was aware of this & did what fumblers do best
stole the idea [-X [-X [-X [-( [-( [-( [-(
one day captain
you'll get something right    :(/ :(/

State of Origin will never work in the AFL as every State plays Footy.

It is only popular in League because only 2 States play it.

Just curious, where does this 400k in Melbourne alone figure come from?

Seems massively exaggerated? :hmm:

400k into Melbourne give or take when including BVOD 9NOW >> state of Origin BVOD

The series recorded an average BVOD audience of 788,000 per match

can someone please confirm BVOD numbers into metro numbers...how it all works.

Perhaps Wookie can confirm? I’ve always thought BVOD is included in the totals reported from VOZ for metros and national.
