the fumbling game i think is starting to realise its enormous limitations & how little its expansion program that started in 1982 has progressed the sport outside its traditional markets

Sydney swans? Most popular club in NSW.
Qld lions 2nd or 3rd most popular football club in Qld.
Suns doing ok in a territory where most sports fail.
NRL expansion club, Storm, done well, but really the NRL’s equivalent of the Giants.

Think Perth would be pointless re: another team . Not sure what the benefit would be. They are more prohical than Victorians with their footy - but if the philosophy is to put a team into Aussie Rules heartland then I guess why not - but if the plan is to grow the game Canberra is the obvious choice given the solid base there and room to grow the game more - otherwise I think going into somewhere where the game needs to grow is the go.
