Very " soft " ratings for the AFL for their big opening game of the season
very soft & way down on the usual numbers for an opening game in prime time on a Thursday , the AFL would have been bitterly disappointed with the numbers , around 1.2Mill total with STV estimated

The NRL on the other hand would have been satisfied with their results , around 1.150 Million .. but for 2 small regional clubs so pretty respectable.

I think the thing too is that the NRL had their moment last week - all the hype was for that - and AFL having it this week.

The NRL will certainly win todays ratings.

The very .. very soft ratings for round zero continued for the AFL last night

thats with QLD included ( just for the suns game ) all other markets , that one was on STV.
wouldn't have got to a million i wouldn't think

The entire round has been quite underwhelming from a perspective of TV ratings & considering the hype , that would be dissapointing for the AFL.
Just couldn't get the fans onboard in the living rooms for this bizzare start.
FTA games
around 1.2 mill for Thursday ( national FTA + STV)
around 1.1 mill for Friday ( national FTA + STV
around 950K for last night ( national FTA, maybe STV only in QLD)
maybe 400K for the STV game ( FTA in QLD )

oztam no longer give a breakdown of state capitals
but it wouldn't have been much , they historically rate very poorly in their home market & miles behind the Titans
