Abridged
βThe NRL has come under fire for giving away tickets to Friday nightβs preliminary final between the Penrith Panthers and Melbourne Storm days after passionate fans of the two clubs paid up to secure their seats.
Rugby league fans took to social media in droves to share their frustration after paying full price to secure their place at the grand final qualifier, only to see multiple giveaway offers from the NRL pop up in the following days.
While the NRLβs decision to hand out mass tickets for free will mean the embarrassing sight of largely empty grandstands will likely be avoided - it has left many fans with a bad taste in their mouths.
Evidence of the NRLβs desperate push to increase the crowd at Accor Stadium was first reported by former NRL.com journalist Eden Richards on Wednesday as he shared the offer he received for β2-for-1β tickets to the match after purchasing tickets to the NRL grand final.
βEmbarrassingβ
Nuff said.

35,578 @ accor for the Storm and Panthers Game, with all the free tickets thatβs embarrassing.
But it did involve an interstate side and had an effect on the Giants v pies game too.
For every action there is an equal an opposite reaction.
97,665.
Lots of space vs no space at all.
At least today the NRL will get a good crowd today, but only because it is in Brisbane.

thats 50,000 Sydneysiders who will be joining the other 5.5 million &..... won't ..... be watching the midgets
Hmm from a prediction of 40,000 to over 50,000. Howβd you figure that one out?

opening game of 2022 at Accor for the Midgets & Swines
it predicted a crowd of over 60,000
actual attendance
25,572
or 2012
it predicted an 82000 sellout for the midgets opening game at accor against the swines
actual attendance
37,774

Jeez with numbers like that you'd think people would actually care enough to turn up
. Spoiler: they don't.
