Really when you think about it league has been a bigger failure over seas!

It’s a simplified game for the more limited people of union! A popular European game that has been around for centuries, take the millions of settlers who hare now scattered all across the world and the several of professional rugby union league as well would surly have an interest or know of league

Compared to a game from Australia, aside from the expats to promote the game it would only have had a few decades to promote it self on the world stage.

So if afls attempt as international expansion has been a failure. Rugby leagues attempts and but but excuses are total failure tenfold on another level
2 new international teams for Rugby League with Toronto Wolfpack & PNG Hunters in the space of just 5 years is hardly a failure.

While all AFL has done is cancel games in NZ and embarrassed itself in China.

So tell me, who has actually really failed recently with international efforts? :cool:

He's all yours Wookie .
.
Let me explain lol
Probably go straight over your empty head .
A team in Canada playing out of Canada ..is not an exhibition game
A team from PNG playing out of that country & also playing away games in Aust ..is not exhibition games .

:))) :))) :)))
You're the stupidest human being I've ever encountered .
No concept of the real world .

I think you'll find he meant the AFL exhibition games played internationally are not "attempts at global expansion".

Erroneously described as the first time Australian teams play for points in China is now an exhibition game? Lot of backtracking going on here.

All attempts to grow game overseas which have failed.

Don’t listen to Wookie subterfuge, and smokescreens and mirrors. Blind Freddy knows the Afl have long wished to be relevant internationally and dreamed of having pro teams outside Australia.

Demetriou told _The West Australian _ yesterday that future boundaries for football's growth were unlimited, with both New Zealand and Asia international possibilities as both the face of the competition and the nation changed in coming decades.

:lol:

He might ban me now folks, he’s done it once before when I showed him up to be providing misleading info 8-[

Guys! Have a geeser at this article! Plenty of lols. The journo even says the ol favourite “if an Afl team in Shanghai just gets a quarter of a percent of the city as members then they’d have 60,000 members” :lol:

And “people might laugh at the prospect of a full time Afl team in Asia but what about t20 cricket?”

:(/ can someone tell this fruitloop that cricket was already an international sport before t20 :lol:

But he also cites evidence that proves Wookies claims that Afl aren’t interested in global expansion as highly dubious. Sorry Wookie but... prob best if you retract ur statement and thank me for learning you on this one :)

All attempts to grow game overseas which have failed.
define these attempts which have failed for me please.

The league has no intention of expanding to include overseas teams or growing professional competition outside Australia, but last i heard AFL South Africa is still a thing, the USAFL and AFL Canada are still going, AFL England is still running as is any number of other AFL Europe affilliated competitions.

And if the AFL allowed for the same qualifiers used for International Rugby league - we too could have a world cup - but neither the AFL nor the international leagues want that.

3.2 A Player is eligible to play an International Match for:-

(a) the Nation in which he/she was born;
(b) the Nation in which either of his/her parents was born;
( c) the Nation in which either of his/her grandparents was born;
(d) the Nation which is his/her principal place of Residence ;
AngloFL not even close to creating overseas pro league or teams as they can't even generate minimal interest where they go. China game was intended to bring in sponsors & build local interest via TV - how did that go?
Wellington hoped AngloFL would become an attraction to fill its stadium, however that flopped.
AngloFL teams visited South Africa to develop game with boasts of nation becoming a superpower. Still waiting on that.
Percentage of AngloFL players with parents born overseas is the lowest of any football code. In fact its far lower than national average. The league is insular & mono cultural. Applying RL qualifications still won't get you a tournament.
