AngloFL so secure they blocked stadiums for FIFA World Cup bid.
Grassroots players are irrelevant as shown by on & off field success of Melbourne Storm - Elitist swans boast few locals as well. Plenty of talent for RL in Pacific, UK etc.
They have their own league to run and contacts to be filled! Why would they disrupt their season and brake contacts for some one else!

The Minnowbourne Storm are the most irrelevant football team in Melbourne and some 5 or so players in the past nearing century that have played league have crime from Victoria in one way or another!

League is next to dead there

Grassroots doesn’t matter ? I would disagree. Very important to growing the game but also for players coming through and interest taken in a game. Especially if you wish to expand.

Sydney swans have several players from nsw and a few from Sydney and surrounds. Plus there are also players from Sydney and surrounds in teams other than the swans ... or GES for that matter. So that’s simply not true. I think the important thing is pathways and development from grass roots to elite which you can do in afl given 1. The significant number of local talent to develop and the infrastructure of a decent junior and second and third level comps. I think the storms feeder team is from qld ?

Exactly how many Sydney players line up for the chardonnay swans every week? Not much difference to the Storm who boast strong crowds & membership.
US hockey successfully expanded beyond traditional areas to incorporate large markets - not many hockey players from Texas or Florida.

I think there are a few ... I will google. There are also Sydney players in other clubs too. Afl have a draft so players can go anywhere in the country in most cases.

If Sydney rolls out the same 22 on Friday as it did for Saturday’s opening-round showdown with the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium, six New South Welshmen will face Adelaide.

Jarrad McVeigh (Central Coast), Dane Rampe (Sydney), Isaac Heeney (Newcastle), Callum Mills (Sydney), Harry Cunningham (Wagga Wagga) and Nick Blakey (Sydney) all proudly hail from NSW.

Kieren Jack (Sydney), Sam Naismith (Tamworth), James Bell (Shellharbour) and Sam Wicks (Sydney) also call NSW home, meaning 22 per cent of the Swans’ list are NSW locals.

You could easily field an AFL team with current players from nsw next week! If needed be

In 90 plus years 5 players from Victoria have player nrl

The swans boasts far bigger memberships & crowds nearly double on average than the storm funny when you add to the fact of then usual excuse of the nrlol fan that people in Sydney don’t attend sporting events

No Melbourne Storm do have their own lower grade feeder teams like the Victoria Thunderbolts.

It actually make me wonder what side a Victorian Rugby League player would be on with State of Origin.

Rugby League only got a team in Victoria in 1998. AFL has had a team in Sydney since the early 80s. So they have had a huge head start.

Saying that, Rugby League leaves AFL for dead with player numbers from New Zealand, England PNG etc..

Infact AFLs international player talent is so bad they can't even field a team to compete against Australia  There is just zero talent pool outside of one country for your sport.

And here we go again... deflection to international development because your code is so pathetic in the actual country we live in when it comes to expansion and grassroots development.

Makes me laugh how the Anglo Fairy League think they are bigger than fifa.

I have spoken to many English who say they went to an AFL game but had no idea what was going on. So never went again

But but but
A afl team filled with nsw players could be filled several times over post and pre swans going to nsw

Out side of its traditional catchment areas league hasn’t gone anywhere in the country :)))

Well fans it looks like the question posed by this thread has been answered by none other than the West Australian minister for tourism.

He's literally begging the NRL to play a GF there and set up a team in the NRL. And he also said, "Grassroots rugby league has always been strong here,” .

Yep. You heard it right. The West Australian tourism minister telling it how it is. It's great to have someone from the fumbleball bubble who actually tells the truth.
