Re: Womens Cricket rates better on TV than Mens Soccer in Australia
I remember reading soccer fans, one after the other on soccer forums repeating the same line - that moving from SBS to a commercial FTA TV network would see national ratings of anything from 250,000 - 300,000 (still minuscule compared to the AFL, NRL and Cricket I know). Those same delusional soccer nut jobs are now no doubt, scratching their heads wondering why Australians continue to shun the beloved “world game”. lol

Jesus that'd nearly be the half the season FTA ratings for AL .

be interesting to see what the A league pulls in FTA and FOX figures per week..
I don't even know how FOX are recouping what they have invested in the product..

You AFL fans are having a laugh. Funny how you fail to mention Australia vs Honduras at ANZ which got close to 77,000 on a Wednesday night in November.Beaussie wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2017 4:45 amOh gawd, yeah I remember that rubbish about the Sydney soccer derby. Crowds at ANZ Stadium appear to have halved since last year and the tv ratings... shesshleeroy*NRL* wrote: Mon Dec 11, 2017 10:41 amit is quite Embarrassing..
2 years ago they couldn't stop saying (the MEDIA) that SYDNEY FC v WANDERERS
was the Biggest Game in Town
Yeah I'm sure it is..![]()
Just imagine from that 55,000 FTA viewers nationwide on Saturday night, just how small the actual Sydney breakdown was? Scary thought for soccer fans no doubt.
The GWS Giants easily get bigger tv audience numbers in Sydney and yet we are constantly told they have no support. What’s that tv ratings comparison then say about soccer’s popularity in Sydney then? Hmm![]()
AFL is well behind in crowds in Sydney when soccer has an international game.
And they wipe the floor with you guys in participation numbers. Not only in NSW. But the entire country.
Keep dreaming your own hype in NSW lol..

Blockbuster international matches, Football embarasses AFL in Sydney.
And how does it feel to know football has more players than AFL here.. Australia so called indigenous code getting it's arse kicked in participation lol..

Yes, soccer is a much bigger sport than Australian rules in Australia. Which would make it massively bigger than league and union .
So who gets the higher average crowd in Sydney ... AFL or a league ... or soccer in general if you please?

Wow so Aussie rules smashed soccer re crowds in Sydney ! Although soccer trumps the Rl for crowds. The thing is how do soccer and Australian rules carry their crowds to ratings?
Imagine if the storm got a higher average crowd than AFL in Melbourne ?

I'll give you some tips: When you read something question the source. Then question the nuance or bias of the story. Then research alternative views. Then research facts surrounding the story. Then make an informed objective comment.

At a global level soccer beats AFL easily. And Rugby League and Union are all bigger than AFL on the world scale too while both smaller than soccer.Fred wrote: Fri Dec 29, 2017 7:34 pmYes, soccer is a much bigger sport than Australian rules in Australia. So you can crow about a team in top form getting good crowds in Sydney while their form is up lol.. But that can all change when you look at the Brisbane lions who were once in the same position as the Swans.
