I remember reading soccer fans, one after the other on soccer forums repeating the same line - that moving from SBS to a commercial FTA TV network would see national ratings of anything from 250,000 - 300,000 (still minuscule compared to the AFL, NRL and Cricket I know). Those same delusional soccer nut jobs are now no doubt, scratching their heads wondering why Australians continue to shun the beloved “world game”. lol

At a global level soccer beats AFL easily. And Rugby League and Union are all bigger than AFL on the world scale too while both smaller than soccer.

So you can crow about a team in top form getting good crowds in Sydney while their form is up lol.. But that can all change when you look at the Brisbane lions who were once in the same position as the Swans.
